Bumpppp

I have a cool little story to bump with, I was at my LFS the other day and apparently an older gentleman had come in and dropped off 3 FULLY GROWN giant danios. These GDs were a SOLID 4" and 2" tall, they were absolutely massive and I've never seen GDs like that (or fully grown for that matter).

Thanks for bumping. This thread was dying in argument. Anyways, I think I will have stories tomorrow when I go to the lfs. I will tell them if I have some.

I agree, most people I've talked to still believe that Oscars are highly aggressive and I think part of this misconception is because most people keep them in cramped environments. :irked:

It really depends on the fish ive had oscars live peacefully with goldfish, yet ive had a pictus cat force danios into a corner. :)

Last week I went down to my LFS and was bs'n with the owner and he told me of a customer of his who was doing a water change in his tank (around 500 gal I believe). So this guys brother comes over and says let's go to the LFS and guy got distracted and left with him. Needless to say, 45 minutes later he is standing at the store counter when he got the biggest "OH $h!t" face and ran out of the store. I guess there wasn't a dry spot to stand in the whole basement.

Also owner told me about one of his employees tha was filling a stock tank used for mixing salt water for he invert tanks and he never shut off the hose and locked up for the night. Owner came in the next morning to the water still running and a river leading to the basement steps where there were a couple inches covering the floor. Employee was asked not to return to work.

That's amazing, though the first story takes the cake

Yay it's story time kids! Today I was at some petsmart in the middle of nowhere that was full of a bunch of uneducated people. You could just tell by looking at them. So I headed straight to the fish section and was shocked that they only have like 2-5 gallon tanks to house fish in. While I was checking out the molly tank, I noticed something odd A 6" Oranda goldfish? So I politely asked the employee why there was a goldfish that is coldwater in a tank full of freshwater fish, so at first for a split second she gave me the :hitting: face then she told me she was feeding it POND SNAILS from OTHER TANKS?!?! I don't even know that much about goldfish but I was about to slap her in the face so hard. She grabs out pond snails from other tanks with her hands, throws them into the tank and watches the goldfish eat them. I just don't know how stupid she was. She was standing right next to the trash can too. :wall: Then I noticed another thing when at the store. There was this obese mother to an about 3-5 year old kid there and the mom was holding a betta in her hand so in my head I was thinking "Oh dear, another one of those kids". So while she was talking on the phone (probably to her husband) the kid was screaming "I WANT A COLORFUL FISH!" or something along those lines. So that's the daily brat. Well, that's all the stories I have. Not too funny but I figured I'd share the thing about the goldfish today. The feeder tanks in that store were so overstocked that you could barely see water. There had to be at least a couple thousand in that 10 gallon tank. I just went to this petsmart today because my cousin shops there for his gerbils. Now I feel bad for his gerbils.

not sure about humorous but whatever:

I was grabbing a male aulonocara and a few females for my 75. right after the dominant male was netted a guy came along. he'd been hoping to get the dom male so there was a bunch of confusion as to where it went. The guy was planning to breed them and he knew more about peacocks then i did so I decided to let him have the dom and I took the subordinate male. Without that big guy he's starting to colour up nicely...

also, about 5 minutes earlier a woman came up to me and asked if we had any dolphins. Just showed her the tank and proceeded with what happened in the above story.

LMFAO...but at the same time I'm so annoyed I want to punch MYSELF in the face. Not a LFS story but I'm in my store reading this thread, I'm on page 144 at the moment, and a couple older hispanic ladies walk in. I own an Asian gift store where we sell basically anything and everything pertaining to Asia. I greet them politely and ask if they need help with anything, they say hi curtly then just walk by. They proceed to walk over to the herbal medicine section (we carry over 500 patented herbal remedies and 1000 different types of raw herbs. Imagine a pharmacy with a 20'x10' wall filled with bottles of medicine) and begin ringing a bell we leave there in case anybody needs medicine. So I head over there and ask what they need help with (again).
Customer: "I need a cream for my face"
Me: "Can you be more specific?"
Customer: "It's a cream I put on my face every night..."
Me: "Ok, have you gotton it here before?"
Customer: "Yeah, I get it here all the tme, you don't know what I'm talking about?"
Me: "NO. You're going to have to be more specific because we have so many different things in this store."
Customer: (In annoyed voice) "It's for my face, I use it every night..."
Me: "Is it for dryness? A rash? Acne?"
Customer: "Oh, it's in a gray box and it has letters on it."
Me: "Ok, go home and get whatever packaging you have for it and bring it in because I can't help you."
Wonderful eh? We get this kind of customer ALL THE TIME...idiotic customers who think they're the only people that come into my store and expect everyone here to remember exactly what they get. If any of you are familiar with Chinese herbal medicine, the vast majority of them are "tiny, black, bebe's." We ALWAYS get customers that come in, they don't know the name of the medicine and they want the pills that look like "tiny, black, bebe's." I'm fairly certain they get more frustrated than me but for a different reason.

So a lady walks in with a bag and says i got this goldfish but my other fish are picking on him so i am returning him..
I tell her ok ( as i am take the fish to the back room i am thinking Goldfish can't be with tropical fish her tank must have some mean tropical fish.. :headshake
