Shooting at school

That's nuts. I strongly believe 1 or more school officials should be required to carry a gun and be trained to use it. Schools are becoming some of the most dangerous 'public' places these days.

But you know, the general public would never go for it. They'd scream it wasn't necessary, violation of civil rights, what are we teaching our kids, militarizing the police, etc etc etc.

They might not agree but it could be something that saves lives. Especially in a situation like what happened today. If there was armed guards he could have been stopped before he even entered the school.

While this might be true it starts you upon a very slippery slope. Where do we draw the line at where armed guards and security are absolutely needed versus personal freedoms? Are we willing to have a police state? Maybe military personnel walking guard in public places?
 
Wow that's really messed up. IMO just for 2012 has the most messed up shootings, killings to date. What's wrong with these psychos??? Seems like when one fails they keep trying or ever since the batman shooting happened every other psycho tries to copy it...These psychos must know each other or something...

I agree, which is why I'd prefer the idea of certain faculty members carrying a concealed weapon as a precaution, not armed guards on display as a show of force. That would never fly in this country.
 
when society fails and people feel desperate ( and perhaps mentally ill with no help)....and have nothing to lose or gain tragedies happen.

the state of this nation is sad.

I can not even imagine what those people are going threw but my heart goes out to them.
