A 75 could do for him long term too but the extra inches in height would give him a little more room.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Would also keep him away from anything smaller since he likes to dominate the top of the tank

If you get a couple stunted ones like I bought you could keep 4 in a 55 gallon lol my gold is pushing 2 Years old and 4.5"

yup, should be fine if you have just one of each. with two seperate schoolers and a group of corys
an oscar can live a long happy life in a 55. go on any fourm oscars only reach like 12" max in the aquaria except you could only have the one fish in there being that he is almost full grown.
How do you think a school of maybe 4-5 Firemouths... With like a school of 6-10 tiger barbs with 4-5 corys would be? Probably have it filled with a good amount of rocks and driftwood. I know tiger barbs can be semi aggressive but I know many people have kept them in tanks like this before.
that actually sounds like a good stock i would do even numbers for the fisremouths, odd for tiger barbs so they dont breed, and corys are bottom dwellers so yeah that sounds great.
