New filtration setup questions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Two of my Angelfish are trying to breed with the ammonia at 0.5 and nitrite at 2-4 (At least it's getting better). It should be a little more successful this time since they are laying eggs on slate instead of leaves.1457884700768136446402.jpg
They are currently "preparing" the slate (sorry about the image, I didn't feel like going through the trouble of using the canon, so I used my phone). The black one is the female. I'm not sure the what the gender of the leopard Angel is.

The Leopard Angel is a male, and he fertilized the eggs. Thankfully I have had no deaths so far, but one of the Angels isn't eating. Ammonia is getting better and nitrites are increasing. Hopefully I get get the ammonia gone by Wednesday, and have it fully cycled in a week from now.

Do either of you know the difference between the eheim 2260 and the 2262? They both look like they are for 1500L/500G, and someone is selling a 2260 for $250

As BigTex BigTex said, the 2262 has a larger pump. But another huge difference is the 2262 also has the quick connect hose adapters.

I could buy them separately for hopefully no more than $30.

I have a 200 Gallon, 7' x 2' x 2', aquarium and I was looking for better filtration. I was looking looking at the Fluval Fx6, Aqueon ProFlex Model 4, Eshopps Rs-200, and the Eshopps Rs-300. If anyone has any experience with these filters/sumps, I would love recommendations. I have checked, and I have room under my stand for any of the sumps. Currently I am running two Eheim 2215's (bought them on mistake thinking they were 2217's).
If not going by way of sump i used 3 fluval 403s on my 200. Made pump maint easy as i could always keep one on line while working with others as needed. The extra filtration worked well for the large residents too. Pbass rtc ck n several oscars.

It depends on what you're doing with your media. I just stick my media in the sumps. If I was trying to remove something in particular from the water, say with carbon, I might want to put it in a reactor.

Hey man i just listed my 2262 for sale in the market place
My dad just texted me saying he found out how to use a sump without drilling holes (where I later referred him to an overflow box). I'm hoping this means he's looking into a sump, but I'll just have to wait and see what he does.
