African River Tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I highly doubt a little pair of Kribensis or Jewels would take any attention away from 11 Catfish of the same species.....
See, I think they will. Cichlids are known for many things, two of the biggest being their personalities, and their amazing colours.

No one is going to pay attention to the adorable catfish hiding under a log if there's a bright, colourful cichlid at the front of the tank talking to them and dancing for them. :D

Hahahaha " pet holes" LMAO!!!

I hope people will see them if the tank is scaped right. Lots of overhanging wood, a few plants scattered throughout the scape... Hopefully they'll be a little more active.

Salem is already very confident (for his kind) coming out every now and then and exploring even with the lights on, and Felix is more comfortable with his 'mates' in there as well, he pops his head out and will venture into the middle of the tank (the wood they live under is to the side of the tank) and explore before darting back to the wood as soon as something outside the tank moves. I'm hoping that with the light defused and lots of friends and cover that they'll be a little more active... Fingers crossed anyway haha

I had the 120ltr scaped in a way that Felix felt comfortable coming out even without his friends, if I can replicate the amount of cover the 120ltr had, hopefully they'll come out. :D

I have 4 Synodontis and I barely ever see them, even the biggest at 5"

My 3 have varying confidence levels... I've only seen Mike once or twice since I put them in there, Salem is almost always buzzing around doing something and Felix has his confident moments, hopefully in a larger group they'll be more active. :)

My syno can be seen moving under the wood every now and again, but will come out when the lights go off for food and bolts when something moves outside the tank

What kind of syno you got? :) AND DOES IT HAVE A NAME??? :D

Got a stand for the big 4ft! Stand is in place (but isn't fully built yet), tank is almost cleaned up, he just needs to take off the corner bits and potentially replace them depending on what the corners of the glass look like bare, and give it another good rinse/scrub.

Pics! (I figure the thread is loooong over due for pics.. And I keep forgetting to get a fts of the 170ltr when the lights are on.) Hopefully these will do for now :P

Please excuse the mess, I'm too lazy to clean it up right now lol anyways, tank:
