530g Tank Setup and Plumbing Help :)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Was able to tighten it by lifting some of the joining pvc. Not sure if this is ok or not. You can see some of my angle are off so the buckflush from the ultima to the wall will not be straight

Well today isn’t going as planned. Needed to plumb to the ultima. The intake was fine, return not so much. All those fractions being off have added up like you said JK47 JK47 im trying to force this union to close but not sure how safe it is to do that.

That should be ok. Just get it as tight as you can. Make sure everything recently cemented in is dry before you force it. You may have lift the pump a bit to make it possible to line up easily.

Should have been dry hopefully. I did almost all the connections yesterday except this last one. I did a good amount of light pushing around so time will tell. Trying to sort out backflush right now. It’s going to be a pain and I need to buy some more 1.5in pvc.

Installed the ball valves on the 1/2in bulkheads. I’ve made the decision to scrap the pvc for the drip system. Instead I’ll be ordering some barbed fitting and using black tubing like I did before. I got into the tank and realized how damn hard it was going to be to do with pvc but more importantly, I didn’t see a path for making this easily removable. With black tubing I can just cut it if I need to. This delays the drip system until probably Thursday/ Friday next week but that is fine. Will focus on getting the rest done.

JK47 JK47 so when I painted my tank I wasn’t very smart about it. Long story short, I had the tank on the floor and some paint went under the tank to the front paint. No I have this excess paint marks all over the front. I thought it would be easy to get off but not really. Any suggestions? It’s latex paint.

Ouch. Be super careful trying things to remove that paint. Any acetone based product is a HARD NO. Grab some Novus #1 and see if you can remove with a microfiber cloth. No hard scrubbing. If that doesn’t work go up to #2 and finish with #1 when done. Thankfully it’s not in a super obvious spot.

I’ll try that but don’t think it will work. I tried a bit with novus but didn’t get rid of everything. I’ll try more of it. There is a lot and it’s in some obvious places :(

You telling me there is nothing to do? Thought you had removed paint from acrylic many times? You take a sander to it I guess?
I stick to Novus for small or touch ups and sand down for larger projects. Chemicals are risky to use so I don't recommend much. Not trying to be responsible for someone else overuse etc..

I've been told by others Mask Off works wonders for glue and adhesives so latex based paint would fall in that category as well. To be clear I have not tested this product myself.
