Fish Room Build Thread

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah only downside to my Albino from Mark is that she doesn't touch pellets.
Glad they are settling well mate.

They take and try everything I put in the tank, including the aro, but they spit almost instantly. I'll work harder in the future to get them on pellets.

Easier to do this when they are smaller (rays anyway, not so much aro) but you can try soaking pellets in frozen fish food and this will/should get them onto pellets a little easier.

I soak one pellet each feeding and try but no go. Next time I will stuff the mussels with pellets and try. Hopefully they will get it someday.

If you really want them to take pellet (and I would too) soak a handful not just one in a pot with frozen mussel etc in the fridge whilst they defrost. Then throw the whole lot in. It will make a mess but they should start taking the pellet after a few attempts. You can then work toward throwing the pellet in dry over the next week or so.

OK thank you for the suggestion. I'll try that after the weekend when I have installed the drip system on this tank.

Any update?
How are the fish? All settled now I hope?

The rays are settling in fine. They are extremely active during daylight hours and when hungry. The aro is eating very well but a bit skittish. He's jumped several times and lost scales at least on two occasions. He not afraid when I'm near the tank but instead he's very curious. It almost like he look for my fingers and what I do ? but for example when I open the door to the room quickly he jumps. I think he chasing water drops on the cover sometimes when he jumps since I still got the white plastic on my acrylic lids.

I'm still in the process of dialing in the feeding and WC. I try change 20% every day but usually every 1.5 Days on average since my drip is still not installed.
