Gender My Jack Dempsey

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well that’s great news and I don’t think this one is really ready for dithering fish as BA tetras can be quite fiesty and then there’s a clown loach in there and he is getting along fine for now this last BA killed my 3” F Krib and I had a pair in one of my other tanks a community so I put it in my 10 gallon just keeping the cycle plus he survived a wound from the last JD that killed the other 7 I saved 1 !!!! Once the JD is bigger than I will be more comfortable with adding in some other fish!!!! And what you said about the gender thing funny last night I noticed that clearly round fins a F trait and then 1 really light blue dot under each eye!!! So yea I am actually hoping For female this time but I don’t care either way because I think I will always have a JD !!!!! I just love them!!!
A ba tetra killed a krib?!

A ba tetra killed a krib?!
Yes my 2” female just kept nipping and running is my guess but I woke up to her floating and nipped up bad I removed the BA tetra and a new gourami gold one they said it would be fine but the BA was bigger then my krib she was still small but I found the male hiding extremely pale and stressed so I have a growing gourami and a BA tetra in my 10 gallon the gourami should be able to be with the JD for awhile it has spots but is a golden red color so I truly have no identity as far as species working on that today but it’s small right now and I have another gourami with the Kribs for weeks no issues!! So idk ?‍♀️
She looked nipped to death and he had been there like 2 days Gourami overnight she got nipped more and died after I removed the gourami so I removed this BA !!!! I mean it was attacked by a JD still has his war wound it’s honestly almost completely healed and he has salts in well all my tanks!!! So he’s getting better fast but I would be mean to if I was him he was bitten by a JD I think it’s just always in defense mode I named him Jackie Chan !!!!

Plus BA is full grown so it versus her it was a even fight she looked smaller than that BA I think it’s that she just hit like 3” I have had her since she was a inch big I really was kinda mad but I can buy a couple more thing is my male is a slender I was actually about to set up my 10 gallon for them to breed I was kind of mad about that too!!!!!

Any pics of the tetra?
My kribs are evil, they took out a rainbow shark and claim half of a 4 foot tank when breeding.

Best shots I could get keep in mind this Gourami could be my culprit that’s why they are in a 10 gallon together and there’s been peace since but as for the Gourami when I know my JD can handle it I was going to put it with him until he gets to his 75 gal
To me that is a big tetra compared to the baby JD I just don’t want to take any chances since as you know JD is my dream fish and this is my first baby I’m letting my panda garra and clown loach stay I had moved garras but I put them back

Looks like a regular ba tetra best I can tell - I was just making sure the store didn’t sell you a piranha or exodon.
The gourami is a regular gold. I wouldn’t mix it with the jd, gourami can be mean but I wouldn’t put one with a big cichlid, it wouldn’t stand a chance.

It’s possible the male krib killed the female - cichlid pairs can turn on each other due to various circumstances.

My husband said the same thing about the Krib a pair will kill it’s mate and once this one colored up they are still young I noticed it was the male who was slightly smaller and it’s very possible my female killed him come to find out now lol ? omg I don’t know what to do with said Gourami LOL ?

I’d put my money on the krib tbh. My gourami have only been aggressive with other gourami.
Can you send pics of the current krib?
