How do you think of this tank stock?

The fact that he is using an American standard tank size, and the imperial measurement system for that matter, tells me he is in America.
I use the imperial system and American standard tank size. Am I American?
WHAT
Problems:
Firemouths are social, as are goldfish.
Everything in this list will pick at the goldfish. Especially a solo firemouth, which will be aggressive without conspecifics. Every (respectable) non line bred fish will attack guppies, goldfish, bettas, etc in my experience, seemingly because they can sense the sort of "weakness" bred in alongside their bright colors and fancy fins.
Ok. In my experience Firemouths can be kept singularly if with other fish but i'd prefer a group.
Sure goldfish are social, but if he buys more, they'll get picked on by soft ball.

Also it's hard trying to provide advice to people who only will accept what they want. All you've really done is yell at a person who may not use english as their first language, come from a culture with a different view on stocking, and may be young. At least you provided a slither of advice.

Is anyone else never surprised that when people ask about practically any random fish that D duane 's has not only kept the species in question but also has the pictures and likely bred them?
😎

I mean if you started fish keeping during WWII, what else can you expect?

Hey man, don't listen to everything you find on the internet. Different people have different ideas of "aggressive."

Firemouths are a fairly common cichlid so the bloggers doing species profiles on them are likely beginners-intermediates who have largely kept peaceful community tanks, hence they say fire mouths are "super aggressive."

However, the other fish on your list like red tail barracuda are niche fish that only the most experienced fish keepers have kept. People that blog species profiles on red tail barracuda probably have kept other vicious fish like wolf cichlids and tiger fishes, so relative to those 2 species, a red tail barracuda might be "semi-aggressive" and "compatable with other species."

At the end of the day, a lot comes down to experience. You'll get many differing voices on which fish are compatible with other fish so you'll have to tough things out and see what works and what doesn't.

Back when I started fish keeping, I read this awful fishkeeping book by some professor that defamed cichlids and called them "mean killers/murderers" that every fishkeeper should avoid. I didn't realize that this guy only kept community tanks and knew nothing about cichlids until I decided to keep cichlids myself. (Also this guy claimed you can keep 1 Oscar in a 29 gallon even though an Oscar grows to 15 inches which is longer than the width of a 29 gallon).
Man, research on fish is just so hard. Its way different than getting information about Hitler or dogs. Just as I feared, all those months of hard work accumulating bullcrap information on the internet got flushed down as soon as I talked to people who see through that bullcrap. There's just so much conflicting information about fish on the internet. I'm not sad because I found out almost everything about fish on the internet is bs, because I actually already knew that. I knew realistically, those feeding time videos on YouTube featuring a tiny glass box containing an arowana, oscar, Jaguar, red tailed catfish, knife fish, turtles, stingrays, an arapaima and a goddamn partridge in a pear tree would be a disaster in the long run. But it just looked so damn cool, and there was just an itching thought in my head that was like "maybe he had a really good filter" or "maybe there's a secret method to raise fish so they won't be aggressive" and especially "maybe those fish aren't actually aggressive in the first place, and those stories of oscars ripping up their tankmates were just popular LIES that everyone regurgitates over and over like it's gospel, despite never having owned one"
I mean, c'mon, how do you know what's right or wrong when you cant trust any of your sources? Okay, so i still knew deep down I was just trying to make myself believe what I wanted to be true so I can justify having an awesome tiny glass box with monster fish just like those people on YouTube and not feel like an ass. I guess today my attempts to convince myself was actually starting to work, because it got to a point i was confident enough to tell you guys what I wanted to do. Damn, I got snapped back into reality fast. On top of that you guys debunked other things that i genuinely believed.
I'm not sad that what I knew was bullcrap, turned out to be...well, bullcrap. I'm also not sad that I wrong on the things I actually thought was true.
What I'm sad about is that what I've feared has been confirmed: to get any good information on fish I'll have to talk to people who've had experience raising these fish, which means I have to talk to you smug ****s who get off on correcting others.
Goddamn, I wish fish research was as easy as researching Hitler.

Thats the way it goes, better to learn now than learn the hard way when you have set the tank up.
Some of the smug characters on here are occasionally very nice people and have learned by making the mistakes that you were about to (ive done it too)
As frustrating as it can be watching your plans get shot down if you stick around you will meet some cool people and learn a lot, good luck with the tank, keep us updated.

You don't seem to understand, NOTHING can go with the goldfish. You are trying to put one of the least mobile and most sensitive varieties of goldfish with highly aggressive, highly mobile, and highly capable species of fish. Ranchu can't even go with other goldfish because they get outcompeted for food, since they're slow and can't see. The only goldfish you can get away with with them is orandas because they have a near equivalent lack of vision. That's why I personally like ranchu, because they're so far from a normal fish that it's funny. But that's also exactly why you don't put them with other fish.

Do not do firemouths for the reasons I've mentioned above, let alone one. One will become aggressive, you'll need a group, and even then it'll still nip the goldfish.
He doesnt even know what tankmates for goldfish should be...I dont understand such clowns.

You are not helping him by saying thorichthys can go with ranchu
And no, you may not happen to be American, but you are also not in a place where you can get asfraci

And you are also right, I'm not sure why I'm even trying to keep him from doing this, I guess my only concern was the sliver of a chance he could bastardize and defile some asfraci.

If i’m Not mistaken I know someone with T.asfraci. Also t.asfraci is not only available in America. Oldmate could be in Europe or Panama for all I know.

Goldfish are just balls of nutrition. I’d rather have someone in the hobby enjoying a tank that is alright but not the best, then feeling annoyed that some old dudes online berated him for a suggestion. IMO goldfish shouldn’t be kept in tanks but here we are.
