Where my tank is situated, its in the hallway, but it's not often that people walk through the hallway anyways.
I have heard from my LFS and they can get most types of rainbows. Gonna do some more research and see which of the rainbows would be more suitable with an Oscar

I've never tried rainbows, I've never really been into them.I think compatability with oscars often comes down to the personality of the individual.
I have found some easy going and I have seen some aggressive ones too.
They can be predatory, I would not keep anything under 4 or 5 inches with them.I would also want them to be quite deep bodied. i have seen some awful videos on youtube of them eating quite large goldfish.
I think plecos that get around 8 to 10 inches would be a good choice for tank mates.Or some of the other armoured cats such as humbugs.

Wow, that is unfortunate for you. I never had that problem, as a matter of fact I always use Silver Dollars or Tinfoil Barbs to get my cichlids out of their caves.

Once I removed the silver dollars, the cichlids were calmer, and didn't even bolt when people walked by so it was a win for me to remove them. I don't have to use dithers.

L001 goldspot pleco are nice mini gibbi.
My suncat is 12" and real fat, rare but they can hit 17".

I have a shoal of 7 spanner barbs in my 300 and they are epic imo, get nice and chunky but like silver dollars are gonna fill a measly 100g fast, tbh a 100g 4ft isn't big enough for a large oscar it will look cramped if it ever reaches its full potential, I had a huge 14" red.
Do a gt or JD and a shoal.

+1 good advice.

Anything giant danio and bigger, JD or GT both arnt overly predatory ime.
GT and Congo tetra, l001 plec, peacock eel, mucosus catfish would look great. Add some live plants and twisted driftwood sand and river rock.

What about something like
1 x GT
12-24 x Tiger Barbs
1 x Striped Raphael Catfish

Any other suggestions?
