120 gallon plywood/acrylic tank

I got lost on the drawing form too low thing, but yes BeanAnimal has some great ideas i've seen on another site. A full siphen with an extra regular over flow works great. The full siphen is quite cause the is no air in it, the over flow is just taking the little extra so not much water in it to gurgle air. The ball valve is good on the siphen so you can adjust how much extra water goes down the over flow.

I belive you want the other end of the full siphen under water so that air is totally purged out. I havn't had a chance to do this set up but have read a bit on it.

well my plan worked and my water level is now about 3/4 inch below the top of the acrylic. my noise level is still about the same but it is very acceptable. only one of my original drains is running right now because i need to get a coupler to extend the line into my bio tower but all is draining well. i still need to tweek the settings once i get my second drain running to adjust the water level to my desired height. but i am very happy with my setup now

no it turns out my friend wants to keep it longer so it may not be till January before it gets a turtle. but if i wait that long i will get a western painted instead i like them better

ok guys got another question for you all. since i finally got my water level the way i want it i am trying to find a way to get more water in my sump to reduce the frequency of water adding to the tank. so far i have found the max water level and the min water level of my sump and have marked them so that i know how full to fill the sump. so my thinking is that if i were to add an overflow box to my tank that i would be able to fill the sump to a higher level that it is currently because the siphon would only drain the overflow box instead of the entire tank when the power goes out or the pump is shut off. i have estimated that my siphon drains almost 10 gallons of water which at my max fill level brings the water level of the sump up to within 1.5 inches of the top. if i were to add an overflow box at my current water level and to the bottom of the drain i would drain i imagine no more than a gallon of water leaving more room in the sump to store water.

what do you think of my idea? my second method would be to plumb an additional tank into the sump to increase the water volume. or both

Have you looked into Auto Top systems. Most salt guys use them since salinity changes with evaporation.

The return section slow lowers in water level from evaporation and there a is float switch, when it drops down it turns on a small pump, like a aqualift that pumps water into the sump until the float switch raises up enough to turn it back off.

Also putting covers on as much stuff as possible will help keep water in the system.

Thats amazing dude! besides nails, what do you use to keep the wood together on the sides? i noticed some of the wood was held together by some glue or something, i'd wanna know what it is, i'd really love to have a project like that and build myself a tank. love the design to it, well planned!
