Hey rotccapt, more progress! Excellent! The color on your driftwood is really great. What did you use for refractors for your lights? Just a sheet of metal, or a preformed one? The lights look pretty good anyhow. I really like the idea of a tile at the top! Only now, I think that I have realized this is the basking area? Lol, I am a little slow on the uptake sometimes. Still, it seems pretty cool. I might like to play around with this idea in the future...
For your acrylic question, I think you are right; as long as there's no exposure to water, there's no need for silicone. So screwing it in should be fine. :)

well i just tested some of my out side silicone and it is still pretty soft so i think i will let the tank sit till Friday before i try to fill it again. i think part of my problem was un cured silicone. in the mean time i ordered my drift wood one piece for the ATBA ramp and another 29 inch long log to put in the tank as decoration/fish hide out i will est it up on one of the edges in a way that my fish can get around it but not the turtle if it is big enough i may set it up in a corner so that the log sticks out of the water a bit to give the turtle something else to sit on

well i decided to start working on my background. it will be a foam and concrete background i am using a piece of blue foam as a base and i will be using great stuff expanding spray foam to create the rocks how does it look so fare?

Cute kid. How old? Looks like you have a nice rocky background there. Good luck -- I've heard it is exponentially harder to bring your work to life with this stuff.

he is two. yea this is take two on the background now i just need to get the spray foam to get it started worse case i will paint the background a solid color

got a little progress done today clear coated the entire tank and stand and also got to work on my background. 3.5 cans of spray foam later and i have my rocks ruffed out. now i have to wait till it fully cures and ruff the surface up so the concrete will stick how does it look so fare?
