150 Gallon Stocking

Remove the pictus if you want the angelfish or more congos. The lower the bioload the easier the maintenance.

But what happens if I don't remove them. I have wanted pictus since the day I found out about them because I love catfish but they all get too big.

Can I lower the congos to 10 and add 7 redline?

Oh and I would like just a couple Mystery Snails.

Thanks

I really want your help so can you guys modify the list to include redlines and everything else... the only 2 I can't lower are the pictus and the Loaches

theres an array of catfish you can have for that tank. my suggestion is to go with either a shoal of pictus or loaches, and make the tank regional.

for instance, if you went with an amazon theme, you could have the bgk, buenos aires tetras, the shoal of pictus, and angelfish.

if you went with the african riverine setup, you could have the congo tetras, jewel cichlids, and a few syno cats.

but if youre set on the loaches, go with a borneo theme. group of clowns+school of boesmani rainbowfish+ultra cool bottom lurker like a harlequin lancer or other lancer cat. this is my personal favorite of the options.

there are plenty of nice setups with mixed region stocking though. to each their own but if you have the opportunity to start a nice big tank then thats the way id do it.

Well can I ask is there something wrong witgthe mix of fish I want? And ABSOLUTLY NO buenos aires tetras they don't look good in my opinion.

no nothing wrong. thats just how i like to set up community tanks. though admittedly, i have three rainbowfish swimming around in my south american tank right now...

i just saw a loach and rainbowfish tank recently that was breathtaking and thought id suggest it. the next community im going to set up will be either that african or borneo theme i mentioned to you.

the great thing about the amazon theme is that there are a multitude of schoolers to choose from. you could have silver dollars in a 150 if you wanted. i use blackskirt tetras myself.

We'll see I already have the BGK and the clowns... and the tank is for the BGK otherwise I would not get the tank... and I would sell the clowns happily but one Of the clowns was given to me by a grandma that could not take care of it but had it for 7 years... I told her once that i was going to sell it cause i did not want to get more clowns and she nearly burst in tears so instead I went and bought 4 more and it loves them cause it's been living in a 14 Gallon by itself for 7 years... so I can't sell the clowns. :/

oh well that makes sense.

in that case i would replace the pictus with one or two synodontis cats in your proposed stock list. again, its just my opinion. nothing wrong with your stocking.

So this is going to be my stocking.

1 BGK
5 Clown Loaches
10 Congo Tetras
7 Redline Rasbora
4 Pictus Catfish
5 Mystery Snails

Could I have a betta with the mix? If not then I will just stick to this stocking but if I can I am willing to lower redlines to 5

Shoaling fish act totally different when in much larger number of their own species than smaller ones (like quantity of 4 or 6).
