150 Gallon Stocking

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Not trying to rain on your parade man, but I would just get rid of the BGK too and get smaller fish for the 55. You bought the BGK and the arowana before you knew better, now you are learning. There is a learning curve for sure, and you're on the right side of it. When I was young I kept a giant goldfish, probably 10", in a 20 gallon for years. Because I didn't know any better. Once I became more interested in the hobby and started doing research, I found someone with a pond for the goldfish. And kept smaller fish in the 20. Which I enjoyed much more because I knew it was a good home for them.

Ya, I am going to keep looking for a 150

But if I don't find one soon I will end up selling both maybe with the group of clown Loaches (I now they get large but I heard it takes them some 15 years at least)

Yeah I wouldn't worry about the clown loaches much. They do get big, but as you said it takes years and years. And people love big clown loaches, so they are not hard to sell at a large size.

So I have this perfect space for an aquarium... 4' x 4'
And I want to know the price of doing a diy tank there... I made a thread in the diy section of you could look and provide some insight?

I will be pretty useless as far as DIY tank build, I have not done one myself. I did take a look at your thread, and my comment would be that I wouldn't expect anybody to be able to give you a price for that. Too vague of a question, there are a million different ways to do everything.
You should review a bunch of plans that people have used for their tanks, pick a direction you want to go, and draw up your own plans. Then it would be easy to see how much materials will cost. Building a tank that size is a huge project, and planning is a big part of the process. Take your time with it and save up.

A silver aro does not need a 300 gallon tank a 6 foot tank will do the wider the better like a 180 but a 150 will do!! I know people who have kept them just fine for life one lived in a 150 for 11 years. Teacup stingrays will do will as long as its a sand bottom with 3-5 inches of fine sand
