150 Gallon Stocking

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Alright so after some talking my dad has decided that he doesn't want the fish to be cramped or hurt as he hates that...

He has agreed to let me sell the fish if I keep the BGK...

The 150 will be centered around the BGK

Also anyone know of any cheap 150s ?

I will not pay over $200 for a glass tank. I will be looking for used but I am considering acrylic

Thoughts?

Oh and thank you RD

That post about me not taking advice has forced me to talk and use the advice lol
I really do want to keep the aro but will not since it gets so large
you would have much better luck at keeping the arowana longer in a 180 in my opinion

$200 for anything more than a 75 will be hard to come by and realistically you’re looking at atleast a 230 to house an arowana for life

I am going to sell the aro

200$ will be a tough budget, even for a 125 or 150. You'd have to be very patient and get lucky. I have seen deals like that on craigslist but the tanks are usually super beat up. Might have to save up a while longer. You can keep an eye on craigslist while saving and snag a deal if you see one.
Glad your selling the aro, chances are you won't find a 300+ gallon tank anytime soon. I can't have a tank that big in my current living situation either. One day though

Alright,
Can the BGK live in the 55 for life?

As you can tell I am a VERY undecisive person in all parts of my life...

I have been looking at 150 gallons prices all evening and simply don't think I want to pay that much... Can the BGK live in the 55? I am willing to make it the only inhabitant except for like a couple redlines

Unfortunately it's not what you want to pay that determines it but what it costs. Here is australia there are aquarium clubs that have auctions a few times a year, I've never been but apparently old tanks are dirt cheap, not sure if they have anything similar in your neighbourhood?

while bgk are not massive fish, they do get long. a lot longer than a 55 is wide. i would recommend at least a 72"x18" footprint tank, 72"x24" would be better. they really need a nice long tank with proper decor and lighting to display them effectively.

Why not look into ponds ? U can probably go cheaper with a pond (if u do it right)

Cause I don't want to deal with the HOA or the government... There are all sorts of laws about ponds here and I don't know if I want to deal with that
