180 Gallon Start-Up Thread

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well, I'll use my 1% disclaimer and bow out. Steve was big on Perfecto tanks, but I cannot be 100% that it is.

how much did u pay for the material to build the stand? cuz i just bought a 180 as well and the stand is in crap condition and im thinking ill build a new one

about $30 for the skeleton of it. Although some of it was done with scrap wood my dad had available.

Looks good so far. Tanks is definitely a lot cleaner than it was before.

Might as well do another small update.

That back of the tank and the side panel that is drilled has been painted black. I love painted black backgrounds. Most regular background are too busy for my tastes.. I like the tank to focus on the fish and black allows that, especially if a fish has color because the color really pops. The only other background I like more is those GOOD 3d backgrounds, but I am not that handy and don't want to mess with it.

The side is panted black because if I do decide to plumb the holes, I don't want them to be seen from inside the tank. It would be distracting IMO.

Also a quick picture of the painted trim/crown molding that will trim the top and bottom of the stand and the top of the canopy. 40 feet of crown isn't cheap, but it is what the wifey wants :nilly:

It is my dad that has done 90% of it. I am not that handy + I didn't have the time
