3.5" tubular steel

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Wow, great update pictures. I'd completely forgotten about this project, but it looks like its coming along great.

Stands are painted and powder coated. They came home today, but we have to finish the cement floor before the stands can go into the fish room. We chose a white color so that we can easily spot any rust that could develop over time.

Definitely subscribing to see it finished!

Nice!! You could have went with 2"x .125"wall square tubing if you would have designed the stand a bit different. But I will have to say, the stand you have built will have no problems holding that tank, it would hold several semi trucks fully loaded stacked on top of each other with no problems. That stand would hold up your entire house no problem.:D

Stand is still sitting on the trailer in the new garage. We need to get the floor painted and sealed before the stand can be moved in. We're hung up on the plumbing right now. Hunting season interfered with our build. fortunately, the plumbers wife shot an elk last weekend, and he was able to get back to work on our project this week.. The electrical can't go in until the plumber does his thing. We've got stacks of sheetrock we've been waiting to get up. Now that things are starting to move forward again, we are now going to have to wait until the plumber and electrician are done before the floor can be finished.

I've posted these pics in another thread in the Set up/filtration Section, but I'll post them here so you can see our progress.

We have two 3" floor drains. The floor slopes slightly toward the drains.

Plumbing for the utility sink in the equpment room. You can see the stand patiently waiting in the background.

Hot/cold water lines which will go to the sump. We can't close the front until the stand and tank are in place, so we have plastic tarp keeping the rain out. (been raining off and on)
P1000944.jpg

Hot/cold water lines right above the tank. Will be very handy to add water to the tank. Planning on having recessed lighting with a can in each floor joist space. Going with five 6" LED and five incandescent lights. This overhead area is slightly less than 2' from the top of the tank.

We removed more dirt to make a pad for a propane tank. New garage is on the right.

Already moved the kerosene tank (for our monitor heater)

This new section of the house will have a tankless propane water heater, so we will have unlimited hot water. Right now, with our electric tank water heater, we run out of hot water after changing out about 200 gallons of water. The new system will be so much better for the big tank.

We actually came close to finishing the floor in the equipment room. We filled in the cracks and etched the floor. Now there's too much traffic to work on the floor. But it's all good :) :)

Plumber didn't even bother to show up last week, except to leave a note on Wed. that he would either be coming later in the week or on Monday when the new tankless heater comes in. :( Hired an electrical guy who put in five hours this past Friday. Unfortunately, he started on the upstairs master bedroom (so this doesn't help the fish room)

They walled up the drop off on the right where the stairs come in. It's been raining and cold here. Stacks of sheetrock wanting to be installed

Put in two cans for recessed lighting in the closet. There is also a skylight in the closet.

It's peaceful upstairs. Maybe I should just move upstairs and forget about the fishroom.
