3" ABS/PVC overflow

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
no need for the overflow.. the hole in the side of the tank should take care of that for you..and if the cap is vented it will be self starting...
also the pipe in the tank does not need to go down any more than the elbow itself unless you want to draw from the bottom of the tank..

umm.. anyway.. the Y.. i think ive seen them but i could be wrong.. with a dremel and some silicone you can make whatever frankenstein fitting you want.. soon as i get some time i need to make a double dorso (2 3/4" 90s joined to a 1" straight.. but it has to fit in a 4" box... )

without the overflow the water level in the tank would be at the bulkhead, which is too low.

all your really doing is raising your water level above where its drilled right? how are you goiing to thread it into your bulckhead? how are you gonna clean it?
It all comes apart...
A .75" MPT to 1" slip is first threaded into the bulkhead, then a 90 slips into that, through the 3" overflow...everything besides the adaptor is slip...easy to take on and off for cleaning.
to make slip fittings fit tight just put a wrap of teflon tape on the male side

Thats what I'm thinking too.

The exact tight fit of the 3" overflow on the
1"slip x 3/4"MPT adapter was courtesy of dremel power

out of everything ive tried for cleaning the inside of pipes.. the best is filterfloss fishing line.. for best results use 2 pieces of string on each side and tie them to eachother as well as to the floss.. something like this =====*===== that way if it gets stuck you can pull it the other way.. that and you can floss it back and forth in the line without rethreading it for each pass...

i use this for cleaning the drain lines on ac units and ice machines.. works great..

i like it! just make shure your sump can handle enough water to drain the tank to the bulkhead, because if that thing ever falls off being slip fitted....

or you could install a union between the bulkhead and your diy overflow and have everything glued. just unthread the union to remove the whole unit for cleaning.

again i think better pics and i might have got it right off. soo its not threaded into the bulkhead reall? i think i may be onto your plan and if so i see the point and how it works

ummm.. lets see how typing while thinking goes... uhhh... uhhhh.. uhhhh.. T on the outside... then bulkhead... 90 in the tank pointed up.. then a straight piece to get you to the correct hight.. then another 90 (which will point sideways and be loud)... soooo.. then another 90 which will point down.... and.... yeah... i think that will do it..

might look a bit weird.. but overflow vs few pieces of pvc... i dunno.. ill think about this more later.. for now.. im going to bed.. i think im about to get an early bday present..

I like the idea of a union...I bet I can use one of those compression couplers cut in half...
