3" ABS/PVC overflow

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Let me make sure we are discussing the right thing......

The idea is that the pipe will sit level at the top of the tank with the smaller internal pipe running to the sump/filter etc. Heavy solids then sink to the bottom of the large pipe and trap there?

The 3" pipe skims the surface, to intake water, and provides deeper water pressure to feed the outlet to the filter...

The inside of the 3" there is the tubing that runs to near the bottom so it will siphon everything that spills into the tube. The end of the pipe will always be submerged so the noise should be quiet and the flow increased from my current overflows.

Should the power go out, the tank will only empty down as far as the top of the 3" pipe grate. Once the power returns, the pump goes back on and starts to overflow the tank, which spills into the 3" overflows...

I understand much better now, my post did have about half a page on theories and insights but I checked in early and very briefly today and edited it because things have developed somewhat, why do you folks over there have so many power problems? just curious, is there no way to hook up a UPS?

It should work out ok, just remember solvent weld pipes are a real pain imo;)

Yeah I wonder the same thing...we are on a house circut of 110vts DC....
You guys across the pond have 220vt mains for everyday use...we are always experiencing power failures in the rain and storms, go figure...

I hear ya on the PVC Cement, measure twice, cut once, and you only get one shot at prepping the PVC pipe and fittings...I am totally anal about preping the PVC...making sure to get all the hand oil etc from the surfaces.
Do the "goopen-slopin" on both sides with the cement, and push together all the way and twist a bit.
Then when it has started to weld, 10-15 secs, you can let go and she'll be there with no leaks.
IMO it is the next best thing to welded stainless pipe for water system plumbing...$$$$$
;)

OK here is what I got so far and I'm draining the tank so I can get my phat ass behind there and re-route the plumbing...
