Not harsh at all. That’s basically my philosophy with baby fish (or fish in general). Survival of the fittest. Besides, the firemouths will take out much more fry.

Got a semi decent picture of the adults doing one of there hang outs. Also found an old nikon cameras with quick shutter speed settings so going to toy with that a bit so probable incoming photo album coming soon.

I do have a question i saw firemouths get 5”-6”(+) but when i i do a search on firemouth size, most of the photos don't show anything recognizable in size comparison, for those who are new to cichlids measuring something in inches is one thing actually seeing it compared is another. I guess that can be said about many a fish. I know the body shape will be different then the swordtails but roughly how “big” are we talking?

They have pretty tall profiles, I would think they probably are 3 inches in height and 6 long.
