Was drinking coffee watching the lights ramp up (and i think i need more after that spelling mistake yikes). All swords are feisty the male especially chasing all the females, I’m excited to see just how feisty Firemouths are.
It's funny with Swordtails, the male will check each female everyday to see if she is pregnant or not, and start flirting with her if she isn't, well mine did at least.
That is exactly what my male is doing then starts to do a one-sided "jousting" swimming forward then backward repeatedly. Keeping an eye out on all the females, 5 Females in a 75 gallon tank and a male quickly swimming after them.
Most of them are on the larger side, I got one smaller female probably 2.5-3.5 inches ish give or take, she moves too quick for me to accurately tell. The male has all but the smallest female pregnant already, one came in preg so he's been pretty busy.
in a toss-up if I want to buy omega one cichlid pellets to supplement alongside the bug bites or if I should buy 1lb of small pellets off of Imperial Tropical along with the firemouths later on next week (or too early?).
Whelp one of the females dropped fry, i saw them this morning during breakfast time for the tank, went to work came back still have fry i can count about 5 in the plants, probably a few more i cant see or that got eaten.
Figure that if the adults eat some babies its meant to be, they were not smart or strong enough to figure out to stay alive, i just find it interesting to watch life to take shape.
