Only when small really, was grinding up fish fillet, prawns and carnivore pellets in a mortar and pestle and feeding 6+ times a day (that was around the 7 inch mark)
They have small fat reserves and exert more energy constantly sifting through the substrate, so a bare bottom tank could mean less feeding :)
I see, I was only trying to feed it frozen blood worms but there was lots of competition.

Amazing setup buddy. What's the growth rate on the African arowana like? I've had one for about 18 months now and mine has only grown like 4". Was 11" when I got it and is around 16" now.

The tank has a 16 inch tall open Riparium canopy with sliding glass doors, so emersed plants can grow and the fish can jump without hitting a lid.

At the moment I keep:
x2 Polypterus bichir lapradei
x2 P. endlicheri
x1 P. congicus
x1 P. ansorgii
x1 P. polli
x1 P. senegalus
x3 P. delhezi
x1 P. weeksii
x1 P. mokelembembe
x1 P. retropinnis
x1 P. ornatipnnis
x2 Florida Gar
(x1 15 inch)
x1 South American Lungfish (2ft)
x1 African Arowana (16 inch)
x1 Fire Eel (2ft)
x1 Tyre Track Eel (12 inch)

I am on the hunt for: Parchanna obscura, Parachanna insignis, Longnose Gar, Tropical Gar, Cuban Gar, Shortnose Gar, True Spotted Gar, Croc Gar Type 2, Wild Polypterus teugelsi, P. palmas palmas, P. palmas buettikoferi, P. bichir bichir, P. senegalus meridionales, Wild P. ansorgii, Wild P. congicus, Royal P. delhezi and Papyrocranus afer. (Obviously not all will be doable for this tank)

I'm also planning to set up a tank underneath around 33x12x48 inch for a species only Channa stewartii var. special breeding pair.

Don't really have a reason for this post, just want to show it off now it's setup haha.
