1 inchers will probably become snacks. If you want a community tank of this sort of fish try to get a 55 gallon at least. You can have several pictus and a few sunnies in there very easily. Look on craigslist, you can normally get them pretty cheap with everything you need to get started. If you need to, sell/trade the smaller tanks. With the twenty long, I'd just stick with a few picts, you won't be disappointed.

i said earlier im going to keep tre albinos to give to my friend and ive had the sunnies for a long time my old 6th grade science teacher bred some to show his class and gave me some of the babies thats how i got them and i have im just raising these sunnies to put im my pond next summer
hold on, if you have sunfish for long time, then why the sunfish hasnt grown up? You said they're 1 inch long....its sign that you stunted them, probably from being kept in smaller tank. Your sunfish should grew up 2-3 inches by now. Dont get pictus catfish till you deal with your albino and sunfish. if you want pictus then get rid of albino.
Focus on your sunfish right now if you want raise them, then they need more space to grow properly and hopefully they will probably live by the spring time.
And i have doubts on "my teacher bred sunfish"....sounds like he bred them in natural ponds...so he dont bred these sunfish but netted the sunnies out of the ponds.

ok ill answer the questions above the sunfish were given to me a few months ago when school started and they arnt stunted im not 100% sure he bred them but that is what he said and my friend love fish just like i do but his mom doesnt like fish tank so he doesnt even have one set up but his grandma is going to get him a huge one and his grandpa is going to build the pod while his mom is away.....lucky....and im going to get 3 pictus cats for my 20l and ut them intothe 38 my parents have upstairs when they give me the tank next summer. anything else?
Well its really bad idea to give the albinos to your friend if his mom werent approved big tank/pond. And his grandparents should ask his mom about build the pond before tear up her yard.. so its likely it wont happening, trust me Ive been that one as the parents always won.

we already have the 38 gallon upstairs so ya its for sure...and i know he will build the pond cuz his mom doesnt care bout the underside of the deck and the aquarium is what im not sure about. plus ppl have said that the pictus would b fine untill i get the 38gal in my room next summer so im gunna buy 3 pictus sunfsh r in the 29 gal long used to be in a 10 hex cuz we didnt have a available tank
