we already have the 38 gallon upstairs so ya its for sure...and i know he will build the pond cuz his mom doesnt care bout the underside of the deck and the aquarium is what im not sure about. plus ppl have said that the pictus would b fine untill i get the 38gal in my room next summer so im gunna buy 3 pictus sunfsh r in the 29 gal long used to be in a 10 hex cuz we didnt have a available tank

Your story wasnt straight with me.

you said you will keep pictus in 20gal then suddenly you said you will keeping them in 38gal? Whats in the 38gal?

So you have 10ish green sunnies in 29gal with albino channel catfish? What you doing with 10ish green sunnies when they were fullgrown after you put them in pond? where will you keeping green sunnies next winter?

I dont think your bud will get bigger tank as he's probably getting 55 or 100gal when his grandma can afford as the big tanks are very expensive (probably around $300 or more for whole tank kits) plus his mom probably will not be thrilled with two huge catfish will stinking up in her house. They cant make any promises about pond. If they were getting pond, then you need to realized that they cant keeping albino catfish forever. Where will they keeping 24 inch long catfish during winter?

And why you need two common pleco for? You could get bristlenose or rubberlips pleco instead of these monster pleco. Sounds like you dont research on them and ahead get them without any plans for them...

Please no more "im gonna give these fish to my friend" excuses, it wont be working on me as theres not LOTS of 13 years olds have huge tanks laying around..

Hope things work out. Kinda worried about the future of those channel cats though.

And the future of 10ish green sunnies too...its unlikely that albino channel catfish wont live to see their second year. I like my plan better where the Bass Pro take them than gar man's friend as they have good chances to see their 5th year birthday.

i gots an idea would a above ground pond that measures 4x6x1.5' work for them if i get good filtration and a good heter that i could have outside? the sunnies will go in the pond as well as the catfish

i just put in a thermometer into my 20l and its staying at a consistant 68*f could i put pictus in or will i have to buy a heater?

Parents are a real problem when it comes to upgrading tanks it took me two years to persuade them to let me upgrade from a 72x24x24 (150G) to a 100x30x30 (400G) but so worth it.

I still refuse to keep anything that will get anymore than 18-24" i think the only thing in my tank that will get close to that is the two fly rivers the lima shovelnose and the megalodoras irwini.

and would a 5x5x1.5 heater aboveground well filtered pond work for the cats? ill also put chicken wire over it cuz of the cat inn the neighborhood...i h8 them so much the killed the snailinater ( my first goldfish) i seek revenge on them for that...

You will want a heater for the pics, think 76-80ish. The pond will work better than the 29, but only for a little while. Check out the pond forum for heating and filtering ideas. Demensions almost sound like a kiddie a pool, I be afraid of the thing freezing solid, but see what you can figure out by doing some research, you do have a little time before the cats get to big for you.
Man, I know some people are being hard on you here. You do need to look a little before you leap though. You need to be preparred and have a fully thought out plan before the purchase of any animal. It is tough when parents aren't super supportive of an expensive hobby like this one, just remind them of what you could be doing and they might just get you a 125 for Christmas.

2.5' or 3' would be better
