I do donate monthly. Wildlife conservation studies was second in line when I started college. Since I went into something else, and I still wanted to help, I decided to start donating. And I don't care to go kill anything to "help".
When this "passionate conversationalist" pays for the annual budget out kindness, I'll eat my words.

I'll leave this thread on that note.

My questions were more rhetorical but i think that is great that you do that.

I think more ought to be said about how appropriate this is to get attention. Hunters, do you think this is a realistic appropriate hunt for 19 year olds? Do you know if they got to shoot all those animals
for the purchase of one license, or how do you think that works?

weather or not it is appropriate for a nineteen yr old shouldn't be an issue she is a legal adult. I mean we send 18 yr old into combat. where they kill and can be killed. Also i would wager that they paid for each animal that was shot weather or not it was compiled onto one license can't say and don't care. We live in a world of opinions. and i don't think that there is a problem with doing what she did. I know here in that States there is a practical purpose for hunting in more ways that one. native predators are more easily displaced than prey. So when we move into an area basically we have to take the place of the predator or the prey population can grow with nothing to balance them out. This becomes an issue for persons/animals safety from disease, deer/car collisions, and keeping the deer pop healthy.

Plus here in the states our own government pays millions to kill off coyotes in the midwest and you don't see people getting the government to stop that do you? Know why cause it's the government protecting it's investment into cattle.

Well I think these animals died for stupid reasons. Those animals deserved a more dignified death than to be shot and paraded around by a shallow teen.

And that is fine that that is how you feel. I take pictures of animals i shoot or fish i catch, doesn't mean that i am parading them around. I do think that there is a difference in responsible hunting/fishing but hey she acquired those animals legally.

This is a stunt to draw attention. In one of her quotes (from another interview) she even states that she hopes her hunting will gain her fame and wants to be a reality TV star.

To me if you want to do something for conservation, donate the money and volunteer your time. I know plenty of places that could save a lot of animals with a six figure donation.

The other question is think should be posed is not "Is it legal?" but "Is it moral?". We used to have slaves based on skin color and no women could vote. Those were both "legal" in the US not too long ago when you look at the big picture. Does it make either of them right? No.

Very rarely is taking out an animal (especially an endangered one) the best situation for the population and it's management by humans.

That being said, I think FB should have been more clear of the reason behind pulling them. If it was a 'legal' take, then it is what it is. A better phrasing may have been that they are against the killing of endangered animals, and by passed the term "poaching".

thank you for actually responding to the op, and I agree. I don't think she violated their terms unless there is something else the pics violate that I am ignorant of. but i'd respect them more if they'd stick up for the girl, tbh. it doesn't matter if people don't like what she is doing, she still has the right to do it and post them as long as she is within their terms. it's funny that today is the 4th of july. our country has fought and continues to fight for the peoples' rights including hers to do this

and for the hunting of the animals, I am fine with it as long as those things posted and the links provided are all true in that the money does go to conservation, the meat is either given to people or other animals to eat, and that jobs do open up to employ the natives as a result of a hunt, they only do take old males that are at the twilight of their life who may harm younger males and take up resources. the endangered animals are in a post-endangerment times, not pre, so what has to be done just has to be done. sure these hunters are doing it for the thrill and the kill, if it wasn't for that they wouldn't drop a few hundred thousands to do it. if they couldn't do it, the money just wouldn't go there. I don't care if it's a trophy hunt to stroke their egos, they are only taking the skin.

and as far as posing with the animals, I have no problem with it. i'd take a picture of myself too if I bagged an animal. I see this as no different than taking pics with a deer or hanging up deer antlers or posing with a fish that you just landed. whether the animal is endangered or not, to me it's the same thing.

I also don't care that she is trying to get attention and have a reality show. why do we take pictures and post them online? to get attention,...... I have no problem with it

It's 2014. We're not hunter-gatherers.

There is no room for the sport killing of large predatory animals in today's world. They're too important to the ecosystem, and there's just no reason to do it.

That woman is a loathsome character.

Yes, nature is brutal

However, nature does not = GUNS SHOOTING ENDANGERED ANIMALS

If anything, GUNS SHOOTING ENDANGERED ANIMALS is as UNNATURAL as UNNATURAL GETS.

I don't know, I disagree. cavemen were using weapons. guns is just an evolution of that

it's pretty natural. as natural as a shark biting a seal and letting go to let it bleed out before consumption. avoids possible injury from an animal the shark intends to kill. we use guns to avoid injury/death from an animal we intend to kill

there's plenty of room for sport. all kinds, including hunting

I'll all for showing off your kill and legal hunting. Shoot, I collect animals for displays all the time knowing how a few not living in nature can do SO much for the reset of the species.

I think the big part for many is that this girl has repeatedly stated she is looking for attention so she can get a reality TV show based on her. She intention isn't conservation or caring for the animals, her intention is fame and money making. I didn't set out trying to save sharks so I could get on a TV show.

Why do I have a feeling no one would be up in arms about this if it was an older guy with a mustache instead of this girl....
