anyone into 4wheelin???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah, the spring perches and shock mounts would need to be changed. The bracket for the no longer existant track bar could be removed, too. There are cheap ways to lift a cherokee, too. He could get coil spring spacers for the front and lift blocks for the rears. Cheap 2 inch lift. Or, he could cut out the fenders, slap on a set of TJ flares and a set of 31's. The latter would probably be the best bang for the buck.

tuche, but wouldnt blocks increase spring wrap, he would need some sort of trac bar, i would say do add-a-leaf, my friend got a rough country (would not support this company for anything else) add-a-leaf kit and hes pretty happy, but ive heard they flatten purty quick,

To be honest, I haven't had any wheel hop issues from a cherokee before. A wrangler with a spring over and blocks is a completly different story! Crazy axle wrap. I have owned 2 cherokees that I lifted. One was just blocks, and the other was superlift add a leafs and blocks. Neither one had axle wrap, but the one with add a leafs started to sag to one side after a few years. I have used superlift on a chevy truck before and had problems with it sagging. Not really a company I would recommend. The only upside of superlift is they are cheap. Another downside is that their kits are usually incomplete. After you buy the shocks, brake hoses, pitman arm, etc. seperatly, you have spent as much as a good kit.

either of you got any pics of the 4x4's in action. I got some of my dodge, but its not really impressive. cept when i pulled a super lifted chevy 3500 dulie out of the mud (wasnt he embarassed)

notes for anyone not educated on 4 wheelin- im sure you will all agree with me, LEARN to drive in extreme conditions before you do extreme mods, they do nothing if YOU dont know how to navigate obstacles !

i want to understand though!

without crying in the process

:D

If you researched the particular vehicles and hung around on 4x4 forums, had 4x4 buddys, then you'd understand more. It really is no different then a newbie being on this forum and not understanding some of our talk. Just different hobby that's all. Wouldn't take you long to learn the terms if you spent as much time as you did on fish. lol

Stingrayguy, your girl looks less than pleased in that one pic  Toyota's are some of the best wheelin machines from what I hear. Strong axles, I knew a guy who had 40's on an older one with stock axles. While I had a grand cherokee that would cring at 33's..

i have wheeled with a few guys that have locked diffs in their cherokees and have have seen them break and also have seen them last a full season .it all depends on how hard u beat on your truck, and it depends if its a daily driver or not of how far u are willing to go .

a common thing overlooked with locked diffs is motorsize. Its alot safer to have a locked D35 with a 4banger then it is witht he 4.0, also traction. You add boggers+the4.0+ locker your getting a busted axle shaft. But even a car runnin 4 angry squirrels (2.5 liter) your still gonna break something. Some pics of my jeep (chitty) in action...

the last pic, the rear 32 inch tire was about 2 inches under mud, if i had a locker i would have gotten out no problem, instead i was stuck in my backyard for 4 days, it tood 5 come alongs, a 79 ford, a 4wheeler winch,2 30's, hi-lift, 6 shovels. The result was a 2 busted chains, broken leaf spring, busted U joint, had to drain the gas tank due to water it was fun
