Are paroon Sharks illegal ????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Paroons are farmed for food on a commercial scale, so we are not depleting whatever miserable natural stocks left in the wild. So sad.

When small, paroons resemble MGC (Mekong Giant Catfish, the gigas) and we are told (cannot ascertain the truthfulness) that problems often arise at the border because the fish are hard to distinguish and the agents refuse the entry to anything that resembles MGC.

If the Gerbers' fish were all free, I'd consider a road trip this summer, even though I am in SW FL. MasterB, how badly do they want to get rid of their giants?

Krich, last Sept I got two black ears from Sam of Fishonlinerus (Aquabid) at ~3" for $50 each before shipping. Labeled as "Giant Blue Shark Freshwater Fish". They appear seasonal. One was a spinner and perished in a few months. The other is ~6" right now. Extremely nervous fish. Far, far more so than IDS !! Very prone to nervous breakdowns, running into walls, spooking, spinning, etc. Any stress has a tremendous effect on them.

I will text Jon tomorrow and see what he says about letting them go for free or next to nothing. Are you interested in the RTCs? He has some huge pacu as well, I bet one weighs 12lbs or so.

I also need to know if everyone/anyone is serious. I tell folks about these all the time in the MP and PM and nobody has went there to get them. I don't want to bother Jon if nobody is serious. I tell him I put them out there for him and ask if anyone has bought any and he tells me no, even thou many folks have said they are going to get one.

Whether anyone is serious or not you did your part in telling others where the fish are and who has them. I'm sure Jon would love to finally sell them. Most people who want paroons either don't want two and three foot fish, are not up to the road trip required to get them from Jon but whatever their reasons are that's all up to the hobbyist.

Yes u can't come I dig I wold live closer to his store but I'm 9h away

That was fast, Jon said you can have them for free, every last one of them, you just need to bring something to haul them off in. So everyone has a video so know how big they are, they are FREE, address is 2279 N Moraine Dr, Dayton, OH 45439, website is http://gerberstropicalfish.com/, fish are between 20-25" approx, do your own research on them, etc. Hopefully with that said there should be no more questions about these Paroon's, they are FREE so come and get them ASAP. Know how big these get and will be difficult to sell/trade in the future and possibly now and he will not take them back, not even for free so once you walk out you are on your own.

He said the RTC and Pacu are FREE as well.

Reason I'm saying all this is because someone will ask 15 more questions about these fish, all the possible questions have been answered so there is no need for anymore questions. Just go pick them up, pretty simple :)

JasonsPlecosCichlids JasonsPlecosCichlids , thanks so much! Sorry I have not gotten back to you sooner.

Yes, I am quite serious although I am 16 h away.

Sorry, I know you have been pestered about these fish for years. I don't see the fish on his website.

Should I call / email / text Jon directly with questions and to arrange a potential pick up? I've been calling the number from the website you linked (937) 297-0515 but getting a busy signal.

*******EDIT: A lady picked up and promised to relay a message to Jon soon. ********

If I am going there, I will need the trip to be justified and will pick up whatever he lets go of for free.

I'll continue trying to talk with Jon by phone, unless you advise me of something else.
