Old computer power strip in weather resistant Sterlite container, which is the power distribution from my GFI. Also holds those too-long cords out of the rain.

Both of these are covered by a 32 inch eave on my house, & not directly exposed to the sky.

Bump for an old and still funny thread

I thought it had been confirmed. Even those who thought they weren't true rednecks, such as myself, who put myself on the fence, are in fact true rednecks at heart. It comes with the fish keeping DIY territory.

For me, and I wager many others too, it goes further than just our hobby. I'm a bit of a gardener and there is a redneck lurking just under the surface there too. I've made several planters out of salvaged materials which will come into use in the spring.

Oh my god, how did I manage to miss this response originally? This is outstanding!

I read the first part, looked at the first picture, and thought "That's about as far from redneck as it comes. Does this guy even understand the true meaning of redneck?"

Then I read the second part and saw the second pic! I immediately realized that I had sorely underestimated you. You, sir...are a Redneck! :)

As for Esox...those planters are almost too nice to qualify for the term "redneck". :)

What can I say John, i'm just one of those multifaceted type of guys who can turn his hand to anything......except cooking!! Lol.

I made those from scraps I had in the shed, old offcuts from stand builds and such. I priced similar sized planters up at the garden centre and they were about £40 apiece!

I wouldn't say I'm brilliant at DIY. Electrics and water are a no go area for me, but I feel comfortable working with wood. And the immense feeling of achievement transforming scrap into something useful is immeasurable.

I sometimes feel for the guys on here, and there are many reading through some DIY threads, who pay extortionately high prices for something, or for somebody else to do it, simply because of their distrust in their limited skillset.

You simply can't beat getting stuck in and giving it a go. And if things go south with your wood building project then hey, you have firewood for a jolly up out the back with your pals. Lol.
