is the tank in the room? what is your schedule of turning the lights on? it could be that the tanklight was off and you arrived at home from work or school then you instantly turned the tank light on.. aros really are jumpy especially when someone instantly shows their face in front of them.. lol if that is your case, turn the room lights on first for a few minutes before turning the tank lights on..

What size tank is he in?

Can your aro see you approaching the tank or does it get a sudden surprise when you walk into the room?

Is your tank elevated or low to the floor?

You need to make your aro feel secure. by providing an proper size tank that it has room to move and grow in. Elevate and place your tank in the room so the aro has full veiw of all activities in the room. Keep sudden movements to a minimum, but don't move so slow as to were the aro will think you are stocking him. Spend alot of time around the tank and your aro will get used to you.

There are many reprots of aros being scared of the color red as well as orange and yellow so be aware of what color your wearing. Also night lites are a good idea if you find yours is getting spooked at night.

tank size 8'3'3'

even though when i go and give her food she is scared
its just like she thinks that i am going to kill her right now
it has been for a month in my tank

I don't have any red, orange, or yellow things around the tank or those colored clothing for that matter so I don't know if my silver is afraid of those colors. However, I have noticed that my silver is afraid of bold or bright green. It's not afraid of green plastic plants though, but I have 2 green shirts that scare the crap out of it (one of them is a Hulk Shirt :)). I think it's mainly because I have a bright green microfiber cloth that I use to wipe down the outside of the tank after I do water changes so it might have associated green with water changes, lol. Thats my guess anyway :P

Also is your aro only afraid of you or people in general? And when does your aro seemed stressed the most?

When I got my silver it was 6'' and it was easily scared. What I did to make it feel more comfortable was I bought a very big and long plastic plant and just let it float at the top of the water. It enjoyed hiding behind it and playing with it so it got over being shy pretty quickly. So maybe you could try that.

How big is your aro btw?

Wow, nice size tank. Get some pics up:)

I would add some floating plastic plants, the aro will find some security with them.

Do you have any tankmates with your aro? You may try adding some fish to act as dithers. Keep in mind that they may be eaten later on, so don't spend alot of money on them. Don't get any fast moving skittish fish such as tin foils or silver dollars as they will just add to the problem. I would try some large blue gouramis.

Silver dollars are skittish in nature, so they will only add to the uneasy feeling of your aro.

You really got a 8'3'3' tank? Would love to see pics. Any other fish in the tank?

I used to have a silver arow, same problem before. What i did was i don't feed him for 3 days and when i bought food for him i put it in top of his head so he can eat it. Everytime he sees me he thinks, hey here comes food! I miss him though, died when my nephew put something in the tank...
