Asian Redtail nipping

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Not a good mix in my opinion. Asian redtail I found do best alone. Easily one of the most aggressive cats...especially with size. I would separate these fish..especially for the arowana sake.
Thanks for the advice much appreciated. I ended up getting a eggcrate from lowes and separating my tank till i can get a new tank next month. Did not want to chance it with the jardini.

If the tank isn't a few thousand gallons, ime the artc is still gonna attack the aro.
Ya I just found that out the other day. Ended up separating the two until I can get a new tank soon. Thanks for the help!

I found this out the hard way for sure... The artc was not able to do that much harm to my jardini quickly separated the two! It was hard to believe till I saw it with my own eyes just how aggressive the artc can be!

What tank size are you planning?
I'm working on getting a 200+ gal tank for the aro by October! I plan to house a CK with that guy. The aro is currenty in my 75 gal (which I am aware is not the appropriate size tank) right now the aro is happy and eating very well despite being new to the tank. He'll get a bigger home soon. I'll post updates then.

Since you don't have the tank yet aim for atleast a 6'x1.5' for the aro.

Ya that bummed me out to realized that. Definitely will keep the artc alone for sure.
You are aware of the potential size correct?

Yes I am aware of the potential size from seeing aros from differents lfs, restaurants, etc etc thanks for the heads up on the dimensions!

I was talking about the cats potential size. Jars are easily manageable. The cat in the other hand requires a custom tank
