Yes they are a great sportfish very popular here in Australia.
We dont get the real big ones like you get on the east coast.
I would love to catch a twenty pounder, 10 pounds + are very rare here.

Some pics of my mate with a fantastic Leichardti caught and released at one of our local dams this evening. It was his PB and he was stoked.
Caught on a Lucky Craft NW Pencil topwater on a G Loomis TSR 862-2 Daiwa Luvias 2500. It jumped and put on the acrobatics typical of a big Lei, awsome to see in the fading light.

That is really cool that you can catch those and its a nice sized fish too

Great looking catches! Very cool to see different species being caught. Leichardti's... are those the Jardini's that people keep in aquaria here in the states?

Thanks for sharing!

This pic is of my favorite Aussie freshwater fish Sceropages leichardti they are found in only one river system in Queensland but have been stocked in many dams in south east Queensland. Famous for there acrobatics and love of topwater lures they grow to over 3 feet and are a fantastic sportfish. I caught and released this one at dawn on Australia Day january 26 a great start to our national holiday. Caught on a Tiemco TTP topwater, G Loomis TSR 862-2, Daiwa Steez 2500 spin outfit.

very nice , you guys are the bomb :WHOA:.

No mate different species Leichardti are sub tropical/temperate from south Queensland, Jardini are tropical from northern Australia, both grow to 3ft+
but jardini are thicker and heavier.
