Baby Blue Azul P.bass Care?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Those are usually not bloodworms, but other midge larvae (partially because bloodworms prefer standing, fishless waters).
There are many species and variants of chironomids true with different biological niches. I bet a trout can't tell the difference though.

Blood worms along with the pellet stuffed earth worms ,your doing better than most .you got them eating pellets. You can add shrimp , fish, insects and other foods along the way.

I don't think we all feed are bass one or 2 foods only and we all will never agree on water changes or temp or size of tanks. All we can do is do the best we can.
Bass like fishes of any kind takes some research, time ,space and some cash to keep heathy happy and very cool looking.
Just my 2 cents worth. Space, water, food and time

Thanks bud....I stuffed baby hikari chichlid gold into earthworms today and they ate it like champions so hopefully they survive and put some growth on
So how exactly did you stuff the worms? Do you mean gut load or feed them? I think I may try this as well.

Ps look forward to seeing some photos. Especially in a few months when they start showing some colours.

I just cut the worms up and stuck a pellet in them...I am using hikari cichlid gold...The baby pellet (it’s tiny)

But they are taking the pellets without the worms now so I feed them pellets in the morning, earthworms in the afternoon and bloodworms with pellets at night hopefully I will be seeing some growth soon

Lol. I'm envisioning a worm cut in half, wriggling around, with pellets stuffed in them getting slurped up.

Kind of gruesome, but funny, and nutritious.

It is gruesome but i had to get the Bass to eat...Everyone knows how stubborn they can be.

After trying all the tricks in the book, they at least took to this method :):):)

Weren't they eating pellets before you got them? How long have you had them now? Are they typically only fussy as babies or are they always?

I just picked mine up on Friday. They seem to be eating brine shrimp and a few baby guppies. But I haven't really bothered to feed them too much yet because they are so fresh and skittish. Still hide lots. I figure I should give them time to adjust.

I got mine on the 29th June...Not sure if they ate pellets before..I have always had them to be fussy eaters when small but once they start taking pellets it gets easier..

Its great that yours are eating but i would rather not feed live fish as it gets harder to get them off it IMO..

Try bloodworms and maybe earthworms

Ya I have blood worms on hand. Wanted to warm them up to what the legs was already feeding them before trying to alter their diet. (Brine shrimp).

Funny, the only reason I ended up letting them have the live, was because I didn't have enough time to catch the previous batch of guppies, while homing them and rehousing the rest of the live bearers I previously had in that tank. I was anticipating that the store I bought them from was feeding them live, so I just let them be. Acclimated the chichlas and kept the main light off for the first day/ night. Came back the next day and obviously the guppies were gone.

I feel like I may have lucked out, as I was expecting to have to wean them off of live, when in fact I almost did the opposite.

I'm stoked that you found a way to get yours to eat. I hope they get a nice healthy appetite. Would love to see them all grown up. I'm assuming from the name of the thread that they will be more of a blue rather than typical green? Sounds super cool. Didn't even know that was available

Everyone has their own way of raising bass...I think as long as they eating and stomachs are kept full its good..Someone people might say im wrong.

I always try and push grow rate on bass because i would like to have all my bass in my bigger tank, so i like getting my bass onto pellets fast so they grow faster and its a good diet for them

You can slowly add different things to their diet and see what they like most..IMO i think market shrimp and pellets does the trick for grow and health but thats just me..

Will post pics soon of what they look like now and they when they are grown bigger
