A bigger fish...in an LFS...will sell for more money. Fact.

I have seen some pretty gross fish that were obviously stunted/donated from hobbyists and they go for some outlandish prices, simply because they are "show size" I would never buy a show sized fish...Love raising up my baby monsters. :D
That's not a fact. There are too many exceptions to call it a fact.

Name one example that everyone can relate to where a smaller fish would be more expensive than a large one. The cost/benefit analysis of that would say that they would never carry the larger sized fish because it would be worth their money.

i think fish are WAY to over price imo!

It all depends what feeds the addiction, the right buyer, you'll get what you ask for.

bigger fish = more $$, after you've spent all that $$$ feeding, yes someone will consider paying 5X the money you paid for it, but keep in mind, it is relative to what fish it is. not all fish fetch the same multiplier.

A 5$ fish will fetch $25 when grown out (not with all fish), but a $100 fish will not fetch 500$ when grown.

And Oscars. $15.00 - $20.00 for a baby O (depending on variety) and often $10.00 - $15.00 for an adult they can't get rid of.

around here its 4-5 dollars for a juvie and 25-30 for an adult

Add that to the fact that the adults just stay in one place and don't move or react to any movement near their tank, have shredded fins, and have insane hith

Lots of the fish that outgrow tanks fast (oscars, pacu, nurse sharks....) will go for free as they grow up.

Fish like tangs, angels and other things that can be housed as adults will continue to climb in price with size.

fish are cheap when they are small, expensive when big, and cheap again when they outgrow a tank :)
