Bloody finlets

Add your water conditioner prior to refilling. Do you know what your disinfectant residual is in your area?
Thanks. I usually add the capful then turn on the tap. I do not know the disinfectant residual in the area, but can try to find it on the regional utilities page. Any key words that I should search for? would water hardness, pH or phosphorus make a difference? I feel like they do put a lot of chlorine in the water from time to time here.

magpie magpie : see video and pics above. Maybe she caught a finlet, a rock or tried to eat a MTS? No idea. It’s been an odd week.

So how do you know if a capful is enough? Or possibly too much?
Thats a good point. I only have a 55g right now. And full the cap up all the way, when I do 75% water changes. The cap is for 50 gal. So perhaps too much?

Are you sure thats an injury ?
It looks like the underside of where the two gill plates meet.

Honestly I’m not sure if it is an injury. It would make sense for them to have movable jaws. However, It looks like she has skin from inside the plates hanging out of the middle? So I thought that was a little odd.

Tried to get a better video. 1:14 might show the skin flaps the best. The video also includes the red mark on the albino.

Ok yeah i see what your saying looks like a few scales got scraped.

I think what rd is saying is without knowing exactly how much chlorine/chlaramine is being put into your water (all areas arent the same) you wouldnt know if the amount of prime is correct.

Find your local water report online and post the results
