Not bashing him, but pretty hard not to. He is giving such information as that his blacks are from Venezuela and that the "colombian blues are a form of silver arowana". Yeah really sounds as if he knows his stuff.

There is no doubt in my mind that he is selling black arowana(Osteoglossum ferreirai) the pics in his other thread show that, but the rest is just mis-information.
He's not the first! :grinno: Your bff said that before. :D

uhm, sure...you do know black aros are just silvers that are born under different water parameters right...

Anyway, it's not the first time he can't id/mis-id/mis-info the fish he's selling

Once again, Bderick67 is correct! It's one, and only Osteoglossum ferreirai. Call it whatever you want, black, blue, colombian, brazillian, etc... It's the same fish. You can't compare a fish caught out of water with a fish in a tank. Take a same arowana and put in a pond for a short period of time, its color looks different ;)
As I said earlier, I'm not saying they're two different fish. I just don't see what's so hard to understand that the same species of fish can have different color variations depending on where it's collected...

Perfect example, the beani. Look how many different color forms we've seen lately. We know it's the same species, yet nobody argues the color variations. Up until lopakas white beani popped up, everybody would have said all white beani are the same thing :)

It may be true in some, but majority, it's just marketing. :)

You can't compare arowana to cichlid! :grinno: I had Flowerhorn in the past, and a same damn fish looks different on every water change, food change, temperature change, background change...

Yes it is a good example, they are naturally occurring variations. a flowerhorn, now that's comparing apples to duct tape :D

:D So let's just stick with black/blue arowana! :D Just messing with you, J :D

Bderick67, maybe you should net out your blue arowana and see if turns black out of the water. Then we can settle this theory once and for all, because that's your premise. As simple as that.

Yeah right, sorry I have a little more respect for my fish then to feed your feeble little mind. If there is a "black version" then someone has it. Likely they are keeping it in a tank and can take a picture of this so called variant

...net a 24" arowana :duh: :nilly: :screwy:
