Carpintis growth rate

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Also are Carpintis known for being tank rearrangers like Amphs? He likes to push his plant around once and a while and I found him picking at the heater today while doing a water change.

Another one month update on Bruce. Not as much growth in length this month compared to last month but pretty solid. My guess is still around the 5 inch mark. Tried my best to get a side view pic but its so hard to do with this guy because he just stares at me in the center of the tank. Also some changes to his tank since the last update. His rock cave was stolen by Con Solo the convict and he got a major upgrade in filtration. Its been about 3 months since I started this thread and all the advice has definitely helped, the increased water changes and maybe the change in diet as well. You can compare to the pic above in my recent post which was taken towards the end of February maybe only two weeks before starting the thread. Ive increased water change amounts to around 50-60% if I do a water change on the third day and 30-40% if I do one on the second day. Definitely going to keep doing growth updates. I'm also realizing that I'm gonna have to get this guy into a 75 before I know it!

My male Cyano used to never stop digging and rearranging in my 125 community, maybe cause him and his female were constantly trying to spawn. Biggest digger was my Buttikoferi, even more so than the Amphs and Parachromis I’ve had.

Surprisingly he doesn’t really move the gravel around too much. One time he dug out the gravel right to the bottom of the tank but since then not too much. Just likes to push his plant around. Im curious, what’s the growth like on a cyanoguttatus? Fairly slow like the Carpintis? I know they get slightly bigger.

Not sure tbh, my male topped out at 9 inches in 3 years and female around 7, could be that their growth slowed due to spawning. I guess the average would be around half an inch a month with ideal water changes (excluding power feeding). Tbh I still don’t think they’d grow as fast as my Oscar or Buttikoferi if they weren’t breeding.

Wow, pretty similar growth. Any pics of the pair? I’d love to see them.

What I can find of them back then in the summer of 2017, male was around 6-7 inches there, female around 4-5. I have better pictures of them but I’ll have to find it. Excuse the horrible gravel back then. (girlfriend at the time insisted on that). Bet they would’ve looked great against the black sand in there now though.

I called the male Rambo and the female was Loki lol. Rambo was a real glass banger. He managed to nick me a decent amount of times when I had to clean. Ignored most other fish though, even when spawning. They both looked amazing when the sunlight hit the tank on afternoons.

Looking back at the pictures, they don’t look pure Cyano to me but oh well. Really miss those two, they were great fish.
