I know that you have good intentions and I certainly agree on that it is important to teach people on proper ways to keep certain fish, but I feel this is the wrong way.

Maybe if this thread could be a stickie in a species list section.

I'm all for a species list. Whatever helps more.

you should add snakehead

I don't know about that. First, snakeheads are illegal in the U.S.
Second, I think most people overseas that have them know what they are getting into.

Anyways, all species that I mentioned are far common, they may not be in Petco, Walmart and Petsmart but in pa and ma's LFS too. And price on these fish can varied from different lfs to another lfs.

kribs aint that much problematic for other fish keepers and they are semi-aggressive. But jewels and convicts are worse than kribs.

I agree with the above , my point is though its not always the fish that grow big or have a reputation that cause problems, i had a pair of kribs in a 150 g with 10 discus + 2 angels (plus the pictus cats) of which pairs had also formed but the little kribs took over the whole tank . we gave away over 100 grown young in @ 3 months b4 we split then up!
Yes they arent considered to be to be that bad but thats the problem. we had a male that bullied a 7 inch oscar . Cichlids will be cichlids, and i would say to anyone starting out to avoid .
Maybe this is more of a problem in the uk as large tank busters tend not 2 be sold & smaller tanks are the norm, but many smaller but aggresive & non compatable fish are sold as community dwellers which causes problems for the newbie even after some research .

Partly right. If you have economics subject, they'll explain.

High demand-low supply, high price
Low demand-high supply, low price

The prices could be adjusted to cope with the supply and demand. Try this.
