Hi guys,

I recently (about 2 weeks ago) bought some more blue mystery snails to put into my planted 20 gallon tank. A few days ago, I noticed that one of the snails had these spots (photo provided) on the back of the shell. At first thought I believed them to be eggs, but after doing some research, I saw that mystery snail eggs are much different.

Any ideas on what this could be?

The nerite snail in the first picture is to blame. They are nerite snail eggs. Nothing to worry about. They won’t hatch in fresh water.

MrsE beat me to it, yes, those are indeed nerite eggs and they indeed will not hatch in freshwater. They lay eggs (some say they do so quite commonly) but the worst thing about them is being an eye sore for some.
Nothing to worry about.
