Consideration's when choosing short body fish.

Theres at least a few hundred eggs, should be able to tell if they are fertile by tommorow. They are both in full breeding dress, she is extremely attentive to the eggs and he is very attentive to his own duties, guarding her and the eggs.
 
Either way it worked for the best and you don't have to worry about the sb tex being sterile.

Yeah everything worked out perfectly, even down to the fact that I really did want a male Escondido, they're so damn impressive.
 
I am gonna try my shortbody this time to breed with Butters. Since the bonsai male has failed twice I am getting a little discouraged. The second I put them together my shortbody goes ape **** trying to court her. Shes not chasing him away so he might be large enough now.
 
they should do their job pretty good, texas' are pretty good parents better than fh's in general, and hopefully yo uget some short bodies, congrats!

Laid eggs twice. first time he ate part of the eggs and second time I think didn't fertilize but not sure. Both times the eggs went bad. Might be because hes still new to this.

Thanks, thats one of the big reasons I chose these guys to work with, I will cross some FH into this line, but it will be wayyy more texas than anything else.

I would so not give up on him yet Chris, it really does sound like he just doesn't know what he's doing yet. Give him a break and try him with whichever female at a later date.

I haven't given up yet, just gonna give him some time off to grow a bit. He has been with her for about 3 months now.
