You can probably keep that layer of play sand in there. I can't see a problem with it. Also, I would keep your fx5 and use that for mechanical filtration, and then use your sump purely for bio/refugium, and to hide your equipment.

thanks thats was the plan any recommendations on what media to keep in the sump!

http://www.atlantareefclub.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=3 Thats the reef club that ive bought equipment from. I actually bought my light setup from someone thats from Auburn. Most of the people are in atlanta though. Theres a couple from columbus, auburn and surrounding areas. Click the dry goods and livestock area. Theres new stuff on there daily. You have the register to see pictures, its free. You dont have to be an actual member to buy/sell.

little advice so the salt doesnt take forever to dissolve: Mix the salt with water in a bucket first and give a good stir then pour it in the tank. Add salt to water and not water to salt. Sounds funny, but trust me theres a reason.

for your sump, you can put a protein skimmer and the heater in the first chamber and then maybe some kind of macro algae in the second and then ur return in the last.

well my sump is a 29 gallon no chambers.....all thats in there is heaters and my pump..

You might want to use the bucket method, id be afraid of messing your pumps up by adding it straight to them. Theres nothing wrong with adding it straight in the tank, it just takes awhile to get it fully dissolved. You gotta remember, your adding alot of salt to fill up a 110 to the right salinity.
