The punch was INEFFECTIVE. The only way the punch would be considered effective is if it took her down and slowed her aggression. It did neither. It just agitated the suspect. Police work is all about force and submission. He threw a soft punch that didn't subdue her.

I can't see the vid posted but the one I seen was the whole thing.
I think his punch was effective. The threat was put in check so he could focus on the main problem. The female in pink backed way off n the officer told her to stay there (pink shirt)... Looked like she was complying with the orders to me

Listen, you can't bring race into this. We're not at your job. No one on the forum has mentioned race.
id bet all my cash it will play a part in the cops level of punishment

I really don't understand what the big deal is all about - she started fighting with a police officer and he defended himself, she is lucky she didn't get shot.

There are plenty of actual cases of police brutality, but this sure isn't one of them. I feel bad for the unarmed guy that gets shot 27 times, this girl got what was coming to her.

well...in a way the punch was somewhat effective. after that she stood about 30ft away and never did approach him again. i guess she realized that he meant business and she shouldnt have put her hands on the cop

I think the suspect was intimidated by the punch, but many suspects would not have been intimidated by a weakly-thrown punch like that. It worked out for this cop. I think that, for a second, the cop got pissed off and did something that would not be considered a by-the-book move. Punching? Police work is all about apprehension and submission. You can watch an episode of "Cops" and realize that they tend to use wrestling holds and bring the suspect down. I've never seen a cop punch a suspect, under normal circumstances.

he is entitled to use what ever force he thinks is just and being attacked by 2 people he was entitled to use a lot more force

Not right. I see no reason for him to punch her even though she was grabbing on him. He should have just used pepper spray.

this one was also very recent, and also in Seattle

now this is clealy police brutality, and clearly a racist attack. this guy was completely innocent, detained, cooperated, and then watch what happens....

Do you see reason for her to interfere?
