Dirty tank after camping

try putting them on craigslist or let-go. Don't expect much money for them and they will be gone quicker than if you try to get your moneys worth. Not going to beat a dead horse, like everyone has said the problem is just that the tank is way overstocked.
I say don't expect ANY money for them. Make an ad, ''FREE TO A GOOD HOME". We need to learn from our mistakes, not make a few buck from them. This way the lessons stick.

I’ll put that up right now. I’m only asking for money to get money for a larger tank but it’s been a while and no one seems interested and I called a bunch of pet stores and only one said they would take the arowana for 20$ so I’ll call back right now and talk about that

I’m sorry I really don’t want to be rude at all, but didn’t you say over a month ago that you were going to re home your fish due to over crowding. You keep asking for advice but are not taking any advice that has been given, trade or sell the fish in the tank and stock with appropriate sized fish for the tank

The issue is that I live in a really small town. The closets pet store is 30 minutes away and they don’t take care of their fish hardly at all they’re always all dead and I refuse to give my fish to a store that doesn’t know how to take proper care of them. Tomorrow I’m selling my arowana to a pet store that about 40 minutes away and on Sunday I’m rehoming my jack Dempsey cichlid it’s going to a friend. I’m going to clean the 29g and put my sun catfish in there with a rock hide for him. The sun cat is only about 3 inches. Then I’m also going to be putting my salvini or black belt in the 29g. Not sure which cichlid to move yet but the black belt it about 3” and salvini near 5”. Also I don’t care if it’s rude or not I’d much rather have it told to me straight. I encourage you all to be straightforward with me even if it’s rude I do not mind it I’m not gonna sit and cry about it I’m gonna get up and do what’s needed. Thank you

Sounds like you're moving in the right direction, the arowana looks cramped lol. Keep providing the frequent water changes in the meantime, lower temperature to help stifle metabolism and aggression, keep these fish healthy until you can find them a good home. That's the best you can do at the moment imo.

Never knew lower temp would slow metabolism and aggression I mean I knew that cold temperatures slow metabolism in people and animals but haven’t thought of it with exotic fish. The tank is always at a steady 75-78° although the fish need warmer water the heater I have just refuses to go any higher

I would cut the heaters completely for this period--68 to 75 degrees (room temperature) will be fine with a light feeding once a day for these fish while you try to find them a new home.

Ime, the CA cichlids you have are generally more boisterous and active in warmer water. With luck and lower temps you will avoid excess territoriality from them that could result in the aro bashing itself on the tank walls or jumping.

As another general rule, cold blooded animals, fish included, metabolize slower when ambient temperature is lower, and so produce less waste, need to eat less, grow slower.

Just my opinions in the interest of keeping the fish healthy, avoid overfeeding or live feeding, find a proper home asap. Best of luck.
