Discus Breeding System

Peat moss will likely lower the PH of your wood more effectively that wood will. That's what I have found

I wouldn't recommend trying to mess with the ph in any way. Discus can actually tolerate a wide range of ph's as long as the ph is consistent. Many people have been successful at keeping them in ph's above 8, as long as they keep it consistent. It is the fluctuations that are harmful to them.

If you use peat moss then your ph could differ during water changes and cause problems.

That is true. Good point.

Unless you are keeping wild caught discus a drip will keep them happy :)

This has continued to come up in everything I read and watch. What are your thoughts on breeding in wild discus with some of your more exotic discus strands to bring back better immunization and overall health. I continue to see that domesticated discus have been bred in sterile environments so they have no real immune system. Then when the consumer receives their fish it either dies or changes appearance. Do you think breeding in wild discus would make them hardier? I get that there will be less viable discus to sell since I will not get the desired patterns.

Wild caught will be more finicky than CB. Buy from local breeders and they should be fine. I haven't really heard of weakened immune systems or such before

I think most conventional hobby discus shouldn't have that issue
