Yep, I don't know jack, that's all there is to it. See that conclusion over there? Let's jump! Hooray!

Obviously misconstrewed my intentions with my original post, but I'm sick of explaining things to people, that's still no excuse to go off on some wild tangent trying to contradict somthing I never even said.

"CO2 is for heavily planted tanks that wont support discus or other large fish" is what you said right? You even put it in a different color, what's to misconstrewed there? :D

Looks great! Don't worry about CO2, I did a gravel to flourite/sand change a while back and the plants grew fine

And it ended like this before I upgraded to a 125 gallon. I didn't use any ferts either, the fish poop along with flourite works pretty good!

I forgot to thank you for sharing the pictures of your old tank.

No problem, keep updating this thread, I can't wait to watch yours develop!:nilly:

I will, I'll be writing a little update tonight, need to sort out the pictures first

C'mon Yanbbrox dude, the surpense is killing and the fact that I may or may not have Internet when I get home, coupled with how long it takes your millionaire over there in the UK to get stuff - is enough to drive a guys to doing his own planted Discus tank. But alass I'm here in the USA where I can go to any LFS , heck I bet one could have Home Depot or the Green Thumb Gardening Center order Flourite by the truck loads.

And then theres those Seachem products, I've even called the company on more than one occasion to inquire as to WTF is wrong over there in that country of yours and they told me that it is a well stocked product over there. I'm almost felling sorry enough to just ship you a couple of "Spots" of the stuff just to get you started, and then just reel in the dough (thats cash) once your addicted, just like with all users of the Tequilashovels!

Seriously dude, you crack me up at times:ROFL:

It's not that exciting but I'm doing it now

Not really an update as such as it's only been a few days since start up so here is goes anyway.

First off I think the java moss is dying off, not a good sign but this was in the tank for a few weeks before with no ferts so hopefully it will come back:
moss.jpg

After Tequila(project manager, chief adviser, Mrs Y annoyer) that a third bag was need, I decided to source one. For those people who don't know much about the uk, flourite is hard to find and more expensive than gold.

I had called a dealer last week to be told they are getting some in, so last night(in the pub after a few) I finally convinced Mrs Y that a 3rd bag was needed and as we had nothing to today we'd drive down and see if they had some in. This place is the weirdest place I been to for ages, the shop is the size of my living room with a hundred or so tanks in there next to a bridge over a canal in the middle of nowhere next to a 24hr Tesco:screwy: but they did have a bag of the moon rock. Oddly when I asked the dude if he had any java moss in he said sorry it's very rare over here and it's hard to get, yet he sells moon rock?

Here's the bag(not that exciting but Mr spend my money for me will appreciate what's on top of it, a liquefied Saturn's outer ring, very rare indeed;)):
bag.jpg

Anyway down to the boring stuff, the washed flourite in a bucket, this is flourite and not flourite red(which I believe is produced on Mars) that went in before but still looks nice when mixed with the red:
bucket.jpg

and here's the tank after it had gone in:
tank.jpg

Considering how much dust came off the gravel it's no where near as cloudy as I was expecting. It's not far from being clear now 3 hours later but I'll post a shot when it's gone crystal clear.

Thanks for reading

Dude did you say that I seriouly cracked you up? :ROFL:Dude I understand that you are like on the the Dark side of the Moon, over there in UK land, but c'mon your killing me here. Let me be the first one to My spelling Sux, and I'm not even going talk about my grammer - because she gets pissed when I do but !!DUDE!! I can't tell if your making spelling errors or if your speaking the that broken English that they speak on that rock.
:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::topic:

Now back to the thread, keeping on topic.

First off: How long do you keep your lights on for per day?, and whats the wattage and temp of these lights?

Second, are you sure that's Java Moss (Vesicularia Dubyana)?, I can't see well how the shoots branch out, except in one tiny area and thats not really clear. My expirence is that Java Moss & Java Ferns while very hardy plants once established and are next too impossible to kill unless you deprive them of light or live on the 15th rock from the sun, or in my case place RTGG in with it. Because RTGG are the only fish I've ever seen eat both forms of Java fern & Moss and Anubias.

Any how what is the Red leafed plant that you have there? You do know that red plants require more light to keep there red coloration right?

And that bottle of Jupiter Juice is which one, the Trace or Flourish? Well always remember that I can ship upto 20 pounds in weight, via the Space Shuttle I guess - to you for a mear $37 or (18.3191 GBP), I would say something here but other that don't know may take offense. Dude I was just going to offer to ship you the other bottle but after looking a the rates for shipping to that side of the moon :WHOA: .

40w powerglow t8 fluorescents with reflectors
x2, not sure on the temp but it hurts is you touch them;) Lights are on for 2 hours in the morning 1000-1200 and 7 hours in the evening 1600-2300

It's attached it's self to the wood fine I'll try to get a better shot

I know but Mrs Y liked the color :screwy: I'm sure it will die off but these plants were testers so to speak, once I start to see growth I will be getting more plants to follow the plan of moss, ferns and swords

And that bottle of Jupiter Juice is which one, the Trace or Flourish?
Flourish, I'm going to get an iron testing kit today which will help out
Well always remember that I can ship upto 20 pounds in weight, via the Space Shuttle I guess(I'm sure it's about $20000 a kilo to move stuff via the space shuttle, but it would be cool as hell to see it land next to the house;)) - to you for a mear $37 or (18.3191 GBP), I would say something here but other that don't know may take offense(I don't mind, all opinions welcome, if I take offense I can always click the little X at the top right of this page:ROFL:). Couldn't resist today, baby blue diamond and a baby pigeon blood. That's the tank fully stocked now. They're eating me out of my home made food already and have started out by teaming up with the big guy. Got some more java moss for the other piece of wood, will attach it tomorrow. No luck on finding the final arch piece to go between the 2 but I did pick up the iron testing kit so will report back with the results:
