Yanbbrox;1628352; said:It's the way they are sold here. You can get 'buntched plants' which are cuttings with no root structure, or single potted plants with good root structre. The reason the others never took off I atributed to the lack of roots and them not establishing them selves quick enough to survive. hence why I got the single plants. Like I said everything now everything will be ordered on line to save any further problems. It's too hit and miss walking to lfs over here, it's take what ever is suitable there. I will know exactly what I'm getting and is there is any confusion you are always on hand with the advise.
I did map it out and still intend to follow the orginal plan once the plants get going. As soon as I start to see a good growth starting I'm going to move everything around to how I want it. Halve the tank is still full of testers still so there is no point getting it the way I want it until they are sorted out.
I know I'm making basic mistakes but I wanted to do it in public so others could learn from the experince and guidance
I'm sure the cats will enjoy their new toy![]()
Actaully I think thats not the best plant for a cats health, but if you get say 2 more storks and plant them altogether they do make a nice grouping. Note: I'm not a big fan of Cats unless there Catfish. If cats eat that plant it well have the same effect on them as it's having on the smiley below.

Ok dude listen your starting to make less and less sense. Appearently you have never done any gardening. You don't put plants in your tank let them grow out a bit and then uproot them and replant them, you will mess up the root structure. Which in turn throws the plant into shock, causing the plants leaves in some cases to turn brown or just stop growing altogether until the plant resettles.
I'm not sure how your plants come over on the darkside. Here alot of rooted plants come planted in a root started or what some places call a plant pot. Its some sort of man made material contained in a plastic like caging. When you purchase plants in this type of packaging, regardless of how large or tightly contained the root structure is in this material all one need do is just cut away the plastic caging, leaving material intact around the roots and them plant in your tank substrate. The roots will quickly grow out and past this material which seems to break down over time any how.
Dude remember plant you tank once, or in small groupings, leaving a alittle room for growth and the occasional odd LFS find and then keep your hairy, uncleaned hands and arms out of the tank. Your Discus will appeciate it too.

Do you have any idea how many people on a daily bases roll up there sleeves or remove there shirts and just drive on into there tank with one or both arms, and don't even give thought to that scented soap they bathed with that morning or that hand sanitizer they just finished using (LFS), or the Best yet, do you have any idea the havoc that your bodies chemistry combined with whatever deodorant you use causes to your fish and your tanks chemistry? And you and every other Discus keeper going is oh so worried about there water chemistry!

Have'nt you seen how well thats worked for us so far?
