Fish:

Since the new fish were added the others have suddenly become more interested and they are all now feeding out of the hand. In the past all new fish have given the others something of interest and encouraged more feeding. All of a sudden my beef heart mix is being devoured by fish that have never been near me let alone eat from the hand.
So on that front it's going better than planned.

Plants:

2 of the plants that I had before the substrate/fertz were added have seemed to have died off but I've only started on the flourish yesterday(didn't want to add it until a week after the other stuff went in) so hopefully the plants will start to take off now.

I'll give a week or so and then I'll post some more pictures.

I'm just wondering these plants you have they have any roots?, except for the Java moss that is. And I believed you said something about leaving your lights on for like 8~10 hour per day, but you didn't know what the temp or color temperature was on these lights, have you found out yet?

Also you may need to lower your water temp a bit but not lower than 80F, just until you get you plants started.

Also look into what I told you about about the CHEMI-PURE and if you cant get it on the dark side of the moon where you live then ask your folks to send you some since they live here on earth in the USA.

Roots are not plenty full on some plants of but there are roots. You've second guessed me here, I'm going out on Friday to get some that have a much more developed root structure, remember these were only tester plants most will probably end up as food for George.

Are you talking about the spectrum if so I'll did the map out and post it. I've upped the lights to 11 hours a day. 1000-1300 and 1600 to 0000.
I've got 2 heaters in this tank one is a back up if the temp starts to fall below 82, I'll drop this down to 80 and see what the temp is in 24 hours.

My folks land on earth in about a month or but they're not back on the dark side until sometime in May so the chemi pure will come it'll just take time.

24 hour clock dude,
Example
0000 is midnight
1200 is midday
1600 is 4pm
Easy really I'll translate:

Lights go on

10am until 1pm
then go off
go back on at 4pm and off again at midnight

Is this what you wanted me to find out?

Not really, but ok. Just wanted to know how close to real sunlight where the lights or where they better than sunlight so too speak. Though I know knowone goes by (WPG) watts per gallon anymore, I still use it as a baseline.
Anyway the more I help you the closer I come to going back to a fully planted tank with guppies.:screwy:

Got 3 more plants today, based solely on that they would be ok for the conditions and good root structure.

From now on I'm just going to order plants on line as what ever I get is wrong, mobile internet would be great for me:(

Micranthemum micrantholdes, needs big lights apparently :(
Dracaene sanderiana, not a true aquatic plant and will end up dead apparently :(
Spatiphyllum wallissll, may live:D

I post a picture later of them, another £3 I should have just posted off to Tequila :wall:

Ok dude I see I'm going to have to through a list together for you, just something to get you started. I thought that the site I sent you long a go would have been all you needed, since there are one of the largest producers of Aquatic plants. And you told me you were ordering there catalog, I thought that you would have known better, but I see I was wrong.

You can take that wannabe aquatic out and stick it in some potting soil and give it to your cats to play with. Note: don't go out a buy any plants that look like miniature Palm trees or Pine trees there not aquatic either!:screwy:

Also stop buying plants in single pieces, remember I told you too map out how you think you'd like the tank too look. When I purchased plants for my tanks it was in bunches.

It's the way they are sold here. You can get 'buntched plants' which are cuttings with no root structure, or single potted plants with good root structre. The reason the others never took off I atributed to the lack of roots and them not establishing them selves quick enough to survive. hence why I got the single plants. Like I said everything now everything will be ordered on line to save any further problems. It's too hit and miss walking to lfs over here, it's take what ever is suitable there. I will know exactly what I'm getting and is there is any confusion you are always on hand with the advise.

I did map it out and still intend to follow the orginal plan once the plants get going. As soon as I start to see a good growth starting I'm going to move everything around to how I want it. Halve the tank is still full of testers still so there is no point getting it the way I want it until they are sorted out.

I know I'm making basic mistakes but I wanted to do it in public so others could learn from the experince and guidance

I'm sure the cats will enjoy their new toy;)
