Brother, I know your pain. lol At least once a week at school someone walks into either me or my dog while messing with their phones. I mean I understand that I blend in with all the other people but with a bright red/blue leash and a bright yellow backpack my dog is hard to miss. But on a side note every time it happens it is a lesson in patience for me so that is good.

But on a side note every time it happens it is a lesson in patience for me so that is good.
I do not text but I do talk on the phone while driving (bluetooth handsfree). I agree with the no texting while driving but to each his own on the talking while driving. There are many distractions out there (i.e. billboards, other annoying drivers), so are we to ban every distraction. I am not saying that some of the bans aren't right, but do we really need a government entity to step in and start banning things to keep us safe on the road?
I would so no we don't but there are quite a few drivers out there who give the knee jerkers plenty of ammunition for the laws that they want to place into effect.
Well see that is because of the environment we live in. Since there is so little selective pressure on our species now especially in modern society we have a bunch of people giving the ammo to these bans that wouldn't have made it to adulthood in a less industrialized society. They would have toddled off at an early age and become some large predators meal or otherwise removed themselves from the gene pool.
Then one of these people gets behind the wheel, texts, hits and hurts/kills someone else, and then the injured/killed person's family demands justice. The justice system is incredibly lacking in justice so that person's family pushes for a way to further displace anger and that energy typically goes towards protecting others from the fate of their loved one. So they push for bans/laws. Since "safety" law campaigns have a long history of being politically positive politicians jump on board and we lose another freedom all because stupidity.
Only when I am making omelettes on my dash mounted hot plate AND surfing MFK on the laptop do things get really hairy for me. Otherwise I got mad skillz.
