I WOULD NOT do it,,, on the surface it sounds good... when I think of the possible mahemI actually think CONS might do better.... BUT I wouldnt do that either
Or even neets but like you said lee I wouldn't. I see a bad outcome either way

my guess is this would be the ultimate outcomeYou can make it work the thing that may help you is the size difference of the fish. When the dovii get large enough they should stick to the open water and as long as you have hiding places for the generals they should be able to back down the dovii. I've always kept small Africans with my central's and they are way faster and move through the cracks and crevices very quickly. Different fish same idea. I say do it and be the exception. 300 gallons is a lot of room to make this work with some cleverly thought out rock and wood placement.

that might work out,,,BUT JUST NOT MY TANK... it could work if...you do it with L-O-T-S of hiding places... good luck...
I see your logic, but the point of dithers is to divide aggression and distract an aggressive specimen, not to fight back. The five stars are sweet in their own right, but if you happen to get a pair, your dovii are gonna have shredded fins, and if the dovii so chooses, the five stars will be lunch. I'd stick to silver dollars as dithers and keep replacing them. Lol I've never had a dither fish fight back.
