lol 32 gallon tank. they will not last in there for long :) nice that you are building a 400g

It's going to be hard but you got a few month's maybe even three. That tank is super small! LOL. But as for the timidness. Cichla need space to roam when young the need a lot of cover. So you should add some DW if you can. Also is this tank sitting in high traffic area?

High City Rida, what does DW stand for? Sorry man, just never saw that abbreviation. As for the tank in a high traffic are, sure I and my family walk by it, but thats the only place I have for a tank.

DW - drift wood. Because the tank sit's in high traffic area there going to need to have a lot of cover to feel comfortable. ;)

Ah, now i got it. Yeh, I've been looking around for a nice peice, but can't find anything I like. It seems like the fish aren't as scared anymore, they are starting to come out more.

I forgot to add that I also put one of those decorative rocks and a flower pot in the tank, the rock is not the kind that is made out of petrified wood.

Hey SOKO,
You might want to try and give them pellets or frozen bloodworms. It'll be a pain to try to get these guys off feeders if they get used to it too much. And if you feed them pellets, they will recognize you and come out to greet you more than hide. With feeders, they will hunt and don't really look at you as a food source. Also, besides Dithers, the more the merrier with Pbass:D But I do agree that the 37g is small, so just make sure you're keeping up on those water changes and provide good filtration for healthy Pbass.

It sounds like your tank is definitely cycling. Based on the reading, I would say that it is about half way there. If you could get some media from an established filter and put that in a cheese cloth bag or filter bag and then into your tank, that would go a long way to cycling your tank faster. That's what I did and it cycled my 300ish gallon tank in about 8 days from scratch. That's my two bits.
