Favorite LFS "CUSTOMER" STORIES ...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My favorite was as a customer, I went into PetSmart:irked: and asked the employee about Senegal bichirs:drool: he read the sign that said they grew 5". There were foot long bichirs in the tank! Another employee was informative, said he owned fish,:naughty: but when I asked about goldfish he SPAZZED! "They die all the time in these gawdauful conditions, they are a beautiful fish and CANNOT LIVE IN A BOWL!".:confused::confused:
After fleeing to the dog toy section for ten minutes:headbang2, I came back and stared at the vicious kill anything koi that eat oscars when bored and grow 3'..

Smilies added for enhanced reading!

I think anyone who has worked in a LFS has a million of these..

Anyways, a guy came in the other day, and bought some clown loaches.. (twice my age, already knows more about fish than me based on this)

Inquired about 'dwarf angelfish'.. I chuckled, said no.. "we must be all sold out".. he continued on, to educate my young self on the wonderful world of 'dwarf angelfish'.. apparently if you were born after 1980 you probably wouldn't know much about the dwarf angelfish, and so obviously you would want to hear all about them because your young, stupid, and work for a corporate pet store. ;)

I told him about our guarantee on the Clown Loaches, as they just came in a few days earlier, and I am a nice guy like that..

He told me he would 'climatize' them very well when he got them home.. I smirked, continued on with some good advice, made sure I threw the word 'acclimate' out there for him... he ensures me as he's leaving the department that he will 'emacitize' them for a long time.. :screwy:

Just so happens, I was the ole' back-up cashier to help him on his merry way.. We chatted a bit more, I asked him some silly questions just for S&Gs to see what kind of ridiculous retorts I would get. It was a fun time for all (mainly me, at his expensive).. but on the way out he told me again, and I quote "I will 'emancipate' them real well when I get 'em home!"...

So now our happy troop of clown loaches will live happily ever after with their dwarf angelfish, but only after adjusting to wheather changes, struggling with eating disorders, and becoming independant of their parent and/or guardian before the age of 18.

The End.

Ahh you make fun of this guys butchering of language such as his 'climatize', 'amacitize', and 'amancipate' usage. with you're very own "(mainly me, at his expensive).." and "to wheather changes". i like the method really proves a point. i get that this guy was probably an old know it all trying to show off his "knowledge", but stick with the fish knowledge (where you excel) and don't slam this poor guys use of wording

lol and at least this guy was wanting to chat and was nice about everything. i work at a corporate store also and that definitely beats the guys that come in with i know everything,( and respond "I'm just looking" when i ask them a question like what size of tank do you have), attitude and then take it upon themselves to hand out this wonderfully wrong information to other customers as i try to talk with them.

Ive got a funny one from today.

We had a lady come in who says her husband has a big 350 litre tank full of coldwater native fish, that he catches. He has perch and a few other bits and bobs and she wanted some crayfish/lobsters we had in.

We were keeping them in sub tropical conditions, and she said will they be ok going into freezing cold water. I said we keep them cold and they'll be ok. I said well stick them into a plastic bag and if you float them in the tank for 30-45mins and let them out it should help get them used to the cold.

And she gave me a look as if she didnt understand a word i said. I tried to explane that we use plastic bags to transport fish, and she said oh is that how you do it. (I had to try and keep myself from laughing)

Not the funnist story made me chuckle though.

i went to petsmart and i am only 12 and i was smarter than them they were like ooooohhhhhhhhhh your son is very smart to my dad. i was just sitting there thinking "all i did was read the box" literally that is how stupid petsmart people are they have their dragon gobies listed under 30 gallon tank in fresh water! and they dont feed their fish the right stuff also they have oscars and other agressive fish under semi agressive

Isn't it in the TOS that one must be at least 13 years old to register for the forum? I know most web-based services have a minimum age of 13. [Except for porn, that one is 18. :D]
